Great free version, with an even better business version

  • November 04, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
First off, the free version is a great taste-test for the business version I am subscribed to. Sharing files is quite easy, backups are helpful, and while Google Drive allows you to do this as well, Dropbox is holding its own in the same arena for a reason. I use both for my work, and it helps me to compartmentalize projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I had more like 4TB of storage, but the 2Tb seems to work just fine. Honestly, there's not much I dislike about Dropbox. I couldn't even see the smart sync feature being a any more tightly integrated with my Apple or Adobe products.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox helps me to not only store files online, but to exchange active projects with other team members elsewhere. With a high-speed connection, sending video files for a project is a breeze, and sharing them even easier.

One of the first and the simplest cloud storage service

What do you like best about the product?
What I like about Dropbox is that it is very easy to use and have a friendly user interface on the desktop and mobile app versions, it supports almost all platforms, I use it on windows PC, android phone, and iPhone as well, the sync+ between devices is smooth and flexible you can select what to sync as you want, you can set up automatic syncing for photos and videos on the mobile app, you can upload a file and share it by sending the sharing link to whoever you want to share with because Dropbox was among the first cloud file storage apps, it's supported by many 3rd party apps and platforms like Microsoft cloud service. There is a free version of Dropbox, which gives you 2GB of space initially. The business version gives you a lot more space along with some business-related features, like user privileges access, People Pages, Shared File locking, and files rewind which I found it very useful in the business environment, it allows you to restore previous versions of files which deleted up to 6 months back.
What do you dislike about the product?
Space offered by the free version is much limited (2GB), which you will find quickly filled up, especially if you use it to store media and photos, many other cloud storage and syncing apps will give you much more than this amount for free, Also in the free version you can’t store files online-only, if you don’t want your Dropbox files to fill space in your local hard drive then you must switch to the paid version, you can select folders not to be synced locally, but you won’t see them on your local hard drive, and the paid version can be expensive.
As a trade for integrating with other major services, Dropbox doesn’t offer zero-knowledge encryption, meaning Dropbox can access your data stored on their servers, while this is the case in most major online services, but if you worry about this issue then you should look for another vendor who offers this feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being one of the first cloud service storage in the market I have been using Dropbox for a long time, the app is amazing I found it quite helpful in my work environment and private use as well, They made it as simple as possible which is very easy to learn and manage files. The app allows me to share work files with my colleagues and collaborate with them on our daily tasks and projects.

Dropping is cool

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox Business is an evergreen device that works since it doesn't make a decent attempt. You have records, organizers, and gatherings you can put security on documents, on Folders and choose precisely who in your group needs the apparatus rapidly. I additionally loved the simplicity of interfacing with different associations. We needed to work together on various Data records. While doing information, the executives and DropBox upheld the outrageous document size with practically no issue. It additionally permitted us to get some information about specific information pockets and saved time going to numerous gatherings to stroll through a primary problem or minor error.
What do you dislike about the product?
It costs - I lean toward a documenting device to be free and straightforward to utilize. Why Dropbox feels burdensome and needs a redesign to be practical, I would make the managerial part simpler to use and sell Dropbox business for a couple of clients - not need three absolute clients. A few groups need each client in turn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a fantastic secure document apparatus that permits my group and me to impart records to different associations that are not utilizing google or need some additional security around their standard documents.

Easy to upload files and share with others

  • October 21, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how simple it is to share files, especially those that are large. In the past, you could only compress them into zip files or upload them to a website such as Megaupload, 4Shared, etc. Many of these sites are no longer available or do not offer easily customizable memberships. It is not very practical to compress into zip files because they can be too large to attach to emails anyway. With DropBox, it is easy to upload files of any size and then share them with others via a link. The uploading process is straightforward and usually quick (depending on the file size). The ability to sync the account on your desktop with mobile devices is a big plus as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I only dislike how much RAM the program tends to use on my computer, even when I am not actively using it. I have a program that lets me keep track of how much RAM my computer is using, as well as how long the startup takes. It usually tells me that DropBox causes my computer to boot up more slowly and suggests I disable it in the startup program to speed things up. This issue might only be a function of my specific computer, though. Also, sometimes there are issues with syncing between my desktop and mobile phone, but these issues are few and far between.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems I am solving with Dropbox Professional include lacking the ability to share large files with others easily. it can be very time-consuming and frustrating to send large files as email attachments, especially when they are too large, and compressing them into zip files does not result in a small enough size to send via email. With Dropbox, I have found I no longer need to worry about the size of the files, and the process of sharing them with others via a link is a lot easier. It saves me a lot of time and effort.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dropbox has a few different membership options. There are personal (free) accounts and paid versions such as Professional, Standard, and Advanced. A Professional account is a good option for small business owners who need only one user associated with their account. A Professional version also includes more advanced productivity and sharing tools, such as a greater file size transfer limit (2 GB for free accounts but 100 GB for Professional) and file locking. The subscription fee is quite reasonable as well, but you also have an option to try it for free.
