Dropbox Business headed in wrong direction
What do you like best about the product?
Unlimited Storage for Business accounts. Dropbox Business has been solid tech for many years. I've been a subscriber for more than 10 years and they were the first to break the code on cloud synch with any level of reliability.
What do you dislike about the product?
They've lost their focus. They spend more time and money trying to build stuff into their platform that their basic functionality such as synch suffers dramatically. They roll out helpful tools like a standalone file manager for the desktop that drives much more effective sync management and updates FAR more quickly than their Mac Finder Integration processes. Then, a short time later, they discontinue it without explanation or replacement. The focus on continually adding additional features that are redundant to tools that most organizations already have. An example is a password saver, which might seem helpful until you realize that Dropbox has had pretty substantial security problems in the past. They work tirelessly on new stuff to add to their platform and spend little if any time actually improving their core functionality. Sync is ridiculosly slow, the sync status data and indicators to the user are almost never accurate, their status window can easily report the exact same file count and expected time to finish for DAYS, even though some files (not many, but some) are actually moving.
Dropbox claims that they do not do this, but evidence says that they govern their data download speeds to the users. With bandwidth of over 500 Mbps (Megabits per second), and no other upload/download apps running, it's not uncommon for Dropbox to feed downloads to us at under 100 Kbps (note: Kilobits per second). That's 1/500th of the bandwidth we have available, yet Dropbox trickles out the data so downloads take days to complete.
Lastly, Dropbox has reduced significantly the hours and quality of their level 1 support. They used to offer Business clients extended phone and chat support, but now it's 5pm Sunday to 8pm Friday (EDT). No weekend chat or phone support, so let's hope you don't run a 24/7 business and need help. Their level 1 support are largely unfamiliar with how Dropbox actually works. In essence, their chat bot and IVR try to solve the problem, which is useless, so you need to speak to a human. Then, when you describe the problem (even in chat, with an extremely detailed description of the problem), they'll repeat it back to you to ensure they understand. Typically, the've either not read your explanation or weren't able to comprehend. In any case, they type into their magic help screens what you said and then they read out to you the solution. Only problem: It's the same answer you find when you looked in the help files yourself. They add zero value, and escalating can take a week or longer to get someone of advanced understanding to help you.
All in all, Dropbox has dropped the ball on their core capabilities. We're evaluating other (equally good and far less expensive) solutions.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not as many as they used to. We have different users in different locations, and we need to share files with clients. We also have to receive files from clients and we don't want to give them a license to our account. Dropbox does all these things.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the alternatives. If you're looking for a solution that provides the foundation aspects of this type of tool - namely storage, sync, security and sharing, there are others that do it better and far less expensively.

Dropbox is the first online storage I use at work and for personal use in storing all my files online. It is very easy to use and I can access my files on any device.

Dropbox offers a little space storage for free users. But if you are serious about keeping safe your files then an upgrade is worth the price. Another option to increase your storage is to refer users to dropbox if you prefer to stay as free users.

Excellent for file storage, backups, and organizing projects
What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox is an excellent cloud platform with suitable tools and features to support file storage, creating backups, and organizing projects in one place. By default, you have 2GB for storing files on Dropbox, which you can upgrade to 2TB at any time for an affordable price. Dropbox has a web application that is more than enough for all file storage and sharing needs. Dropbox can be used on any device due to its broad support for different OSes such as Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. This allows seamless file syncing, cross-sharing, easy backups, etc. You can create folders to organize your files on the cloud, making it easier to fetch them when necessary. Dropbox has built-in automation that can automatically sort your files by moving them to folders based on specific criteria. When you're uploading files of different types in bulk, you can rely on automation to organize the files for you so that you can find them easily when you need them. This not only helps you save plenty of time but reduces any clutter.
On the desktop, you can select folders that you want to sync with your online storage. Dropbox will make routine backups of the folders to reflect any changes you make to them locally. This is essential for those who use their home computer to work as it prevents any accidental deletion of important files. Furthermore, if these files and folders are synced into a shared folder, they can be accessed by anyone with authorization. For team members who use Dropbox individually instead of joint accounts, this feature is excellent and allows you to maintain your privacy while also providing a secure means to collaborate.
Dropbox is excellent for organizing projects and managing deadlines. There are task management tools that allow you to create to-do lists effectively and provide an interface to keep you and your team on the same page. You can add tasks, and deadlines, and assign members to take on different tasks. For any tasks that are incomplete before the deadline is approaching, Dropbox sends an alert to all the members involved with the task. This helps you stay on track with your projects and ensure that you don't miss any of the due dates. You can tick off the tasks after they're complete to indicate them as such. You can share files on Dropbox seamlessly during team collaboration and create notes to set reminders for everyone. Additionally, Dropbox allows the seamless creation of docs, which is by far one of the most helpful tools for task management.

What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Dropbox is that it isn't very intuitive. In the beginning, it can be difficult to get used to the features and find where they are. For instance, I use two Dropbox accounts for work and my personal files. On the Windows application, it took me a while to find the option to log out of my personal account so that I could switch over to my work account. The sign-out button doesn't exist in the dropdown menu when you click on your profile. I had to search on Google to find out that you have to go to the preferences menu to be able to log out. This is such a convoluted method to manage multiple accounts if you want to sync your files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using Dropbox to sync my work files on the cloud for long-term storage and easier sharing. The automatic sync and automation have made it convenient because I no longer need to drag and drop the files to upload them to the cloud manually. I can also create backups of important files this way so that if I ever lose them in any way on my computer, I'll always be able to fetch them from the Dropbox cloud storage when necessary. While Dropbox automatically syncs and uploads files, it does not overwrite the files on the cloud when changes are made locally. Instead, it creates another copy under the same name. So if I make a change to the file on my computer, even though it'll reflect on the cloud immediately, I can go through the revision history of the file on the cloud to retrieve an older version. This helps undo changes and also eliminates any issues from syntax errors. While working and collaborating on web applications, quick sync and automatic backups allow better productivity and sharing.
The benefit of Dropbox is that my team and I can collaborate, share files, and manage projects seamlessly. We're able to organize all our tasks and projects into one. Dropbox allows us to set timers, and deadlines, and create notes so that we're always on the same train of thought and up-to-date on project progression and task completion. Through Paper, we can make docs and sheets collaboratively and edit them simultaneously. With the help of to-do lists, we can create a list of tasks that need to be completed and tick them to mark them as completed when we finish them. This sends an alert to everyone on the board to keep them updated.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
My experience with Dropbox has been positive overall sans the issue with multiple accounts on the desktop. But it's an excellent platform for sharing files, creating and collaborating on docs, automatic backups, and secure storage. Despite the low initial storage space, the features for collaboration on Dropbox make it worth the use.
Been using it for 11 years so far
What do you like best about the product?
I have all my files in dropbox and I use it as safe storage so I never worry about losing a file also it's very easy to share whatsoever with simple clicks, I don't think I can live without it

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Dropbox is Great to Use When Sharing Information is Needed
What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox has been most useful to me when I needed to share information and send things between people across the country. It was nice to know I could drop in a photo or document and share it in seconds with someone 1000 miles away. I could collaborate and work on projects with those so far away and it was wonderful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing I thought could have been better is the price. The price seemed awful high for the same service others gave as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved the problem of having to upload my documents into storage as Dropbox was automatically uploading everything on its own.
