  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our goal was to create a unified report for tracking ad spend vs conversions across different channels. We used Alteryx to consolidate campaign performance data from multiple platforms. Alteryx's build-in connectors for SQL, Excel and cloud databases helped us in streamlining our work flow. No need to know complex coding as it's drag and drop interface could easily manipulate data easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to a steep learning curve, few of our team members found it hard to grasp the logic behind workflow dependencies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx has significantly improved efficiency across multiple departments and eliminated repetitive manual work. It has also improved collaboration between teams as workflow can be shared easily which allows different teams to work on the same data pipeline.

Versatile tool for ETL and predictive analytics

  • March 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We uses Alteryx to analyse historical sales data, supplier lead times and seasonal trends for our supply chain teams to improve demand planning. Alteryx’s predictive analytics tool helped us to forecast inventory demand without needing an external software. We also schedule the process to run daily using automated work flow execution, to ensure our team always had up-to-date stock predictions. By automating this workflow, we reduced stockouts by 15% and overstocking by 10%, helping the company save on operational costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Handling millions of real time transactions sometime causes workflow slowdown which often requires manual optimisation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Alteryx, our team spent hours cleaning and preparing data for analysis. After implementing Alteryx, they can now focus more on generating insights rather than fixing messy data. Overall, Alteryx is a powerful and no code data analytics tool that transforms workflow efficiency.

Great for data blending and automation, But expensive

  • March 06, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our HR analytics team used Alteryx to automate employee attrition analysis. We had data spread across payroll and servey feedback, and before Alteryx our team manually compiled report in Excel, which was error prone and took days.I like its data blending capability from multiple sources as it combines structured and unstructured data seamlessly. Also it uses prebuild regression models to predict employee churn, without requiring advanced coding skill.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alteryx works well for batch processing but does not support streaming data in real time. Also, connecting to social media APIs required custom scripting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Alteryx, data prep was the biggest bottleneck in our analytics project. Now data cleaning, transformation and reporting are all streamlined, allowing us to focus on insights instead of manual work.

Powerful data analytics tool with seamless automation

  • February 26, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
At my company we deal with massive amount of sales and customer data across different regions. We used Alteryx to automate our weekly sales reporting process. Previously, we used Excel to do this process manually. Due to Alteryx’s easy drag-and-drop interface, even non-technical users could build workflows without writing code. Once our team set up the workflow, it could run on schedule without any manual intervention.
What do you dislike about the product?
We faced a minor issue while integrating Alteryx with our internal SQL database. To resolve our issue, we connected with their customer support team and they provided a clear guidance on resolving driver compatibility issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the biggest win with Alteryx was its impact on team collaboration and productivity. We often needed ad-hoc data requests, which used to take a data engineer hours to process. Now we have pre-build workflows that analysts can modify without relying on IT teams.

Quick development enables seamless data processing despite occasional support issues

  • January 09, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I used it every day for most of my day, developing different applications and ECLs, and I loved it. My background is diverse, with a variety of roles in my career. I have written the old style of ETLs with SQL, whether it be advanced SQL code for Oracle or using different programming languages to process data.

I stumbled on Alteryx when we were trying to build Tableau dashboards, and we were having difficulty loading them directly into Tableau. We needed something to preprocess the data for the dashboard. We were trying to process large datasets at US Bank, and that would help us with that preprocessing.

What is most valuable?

It offered quick development, with the ability to process large datasets. It was easy to work with because everything was graphical, resulting in a quick development cycle. The ease of testing and producing what we needed quickly was invaluable. Once we got it in-house, I knew its value. It was easy to work with, and the graphical nature made it simple. I could develop quickly and did so for seven or eight years on different projects.

What needs improvement?

There were times when the product would fail during development without an apparent reason. The support structure changed; initially, we received great support, however, it later became less reliable due to licensing issues and a tiered support system. Licensing negotiations were problematic, affecting our product usage. For instance, our licenses were temporarily lost during negotiations when an agreement couldn't be reached.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used the solution for seven or eight years, roughly.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There were times when the product would fail during development, and I couldn't explain why.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We struggled with the licensing. Many did not want to pay the per seat license and preferred an enterprise license, which was difficult to negotiate with Alteryx.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service was not good because we weren't premium support users. If we reached the right people, it worked, however, our tickets often lingered without priority support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Initially, we used SQL and other programming languages for data processing.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was manageable. There was a learning curve initially, however, after six months, it became easy. It is different from traditional coding, so you have to retrain your brain.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We thought the setup cost was high as we were buying it per seat. It was somewhat in line with Tableau. Some were hesitant to pay $4000 per seat.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I looked at Tableau Dataprep and other options yet did not find any as good as Alteryx. Microsoft started developing Power BI, which impacted our decision-making.

What other advice do I have?

Licensing negotiations were problematic, impacting our usage. I used to hold groups at the bank to discuss why I thought this product was good. It offers quick development and self-documentation. I would rate it a nine out of ten. It's a data blending tool that I personally found superior to others I've tried.

Modifies data on the fly with in-memory processing

  • December 03, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I used Alteryx for a retail company's project. They wanted to generate quick results out of some analysis for their fast-moving products and manage customer profiles for starting campaigns only for these fast-moving items.

How has it helped my organization?

Alteryx enabled us to develop models and perform core Python coding, utilizing different approaches like the waterfall and agile frameworks. We sometimes use the SAFe agile framework.

What is most valuable?

I found Alteryx's ability to modify data on the fly, using in-memory processing, very useful. This feature prevents the necessity to store data temporarily.

The tool also provides functionality for dashboarding, report bursting, and handling multi-currency and multi-language situations. It helps in managing delivery for large teams.

What needs improvement?

It would be beneficial if Alteryx could lower its price or introduce a loyalty program for individual consultants and freelancers like me. It would help independent users manage projects for clients without facing high costs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Alteryx for about six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Alteryx is very stable. I rate it nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Alteryx is scalable, and I would give it eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I contacted customer support once or twice, and they were quick to respond. I would also rate them nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Different customers have different data tools like DataStage and Informatica. They also provide good data flow capabilities. Alteryx has a built-in robustness that I was very happy with.

How was the initial setup?

I didn't set it up myself; there was a project manager who set up the whole thing.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Alteryx is expensive. It's beyond the budget of freelancers like me, even though companies usually purchase it for larger projects. There should be a desktop version available at a lower cost for freelancers.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used almost all the tools depending on the customer's technological inventory, such as DataStage and Informatica.

What other advice do I have?

Alteryx is a futuristic tool. I recommend negotiating the price before using it. It's a stable tool, and I rate it eight out of ten.

Streamline large data processes with intuitive drag-and-drop features

  • November 27, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I had a couple of experiences using Alteryx and KNIME for simple database relations. It provides some reports, develops some flows, and of course, extracts reports.

We do not have a native connector to SAP, however, I structured SAP ERP databases for basic tables from purchasing processes. I related these tables and made calculations. Due to the large number of rows, I converted files to a file type from Alteryx, speeding up the reading process from hours to seconds. During the flow, I saved the process and performed only the part not previously saved, processing thousands or millions of lines, and then built the output report with the required calculations.

For the basic processes, it's fast, however, learning the syntax for calculations takes time.

What is most valuable?

The drag and drop and layout is simple to understand, with intuitive names of features. For example, to connect native connectors, usually, a fee is required for SAP connectors, however, the tool's flexibility in saving processes and using a vast amount of available memory has been extremely helpful.

What needs improvement?

I haven't had much experience with the tool, however, it could improve its documentation. It's something I need to understand better. The tool could include more native connectors, such as for global ERPs, instead of requiring additional fees for these connections.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Alteryx for the last three months only.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not encountered any lagging, crashing, or instability in the system during these three months of usage. Alteryx uses the memory available on my machine efficiently, which has helped me a lot.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted technical support directly as we have a partner in Brazil who supports us with any doubts. Thus, I didn't have any issues with technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used KNIME and Power BI as alternatives. Power BI helped initially for smaller datasets. However, when expanding to large datasets, Power BI didn't suffice unless purchasing a premium license. Alteryx offers automated data flows and connections to cloud databases, which are beneficial.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward, completed within a day.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing seems high for my current needs. However, considering the benefits, it is easier to justify to management for broader company usage. It has a fair price when considering a larger-scale implementation.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated KNIME and Power BI.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Alteryx as an eight out of ten. It's a great tool, however, the pricing can be high for just two or three users.

What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx is an amazing tool which we can use to automate the excel solutions. It can send out an email to users by attaching the specific excel or pdf or any other format.

I really like this product because it is saving alot of time by creating views and sending mails everyday. We have used it to generate automatic ppt by just one click.
What do you dislike about the product?
Though this tool user friendly but I felt bit difficult when we dealing with complex workflow. It's bit expensive.

One thing I notice is it takes longer time to run the python script when we compare it to outside python tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us to create automations and it saves lot of time. We usually spends lot of time to create ppts and one automation helps us to build multiple ppts. we just need to feed the data. We can easily connect to any data source. It also benefits us to send daily, weekly and monthly reports to user by just one click.
