Developer friendly Analytics Tool
What do you like best about the product?
what I really enjoy about using Heap is to know how/where the data is collected from the interface (be able to see the HTML selectors involved in each event) or the user session that makes it easier to make sure that every event is tracking the interaction that you expect
What do you dislike about the product?
The report types available are great (Graphs, funnels, etc) and the interface to build your report is easy to use but sometimes it's hard to create more advanced reports using regular expressions or grouping more than 3 attributes of an event, I know there are some performance concerns but I have felt limited with the current interface for advances queries
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
if the developer use good practices to create the HTML and CSS it is easy to create events without code changes and they are as reliable as a custom event by code and be able to create and analyze events with retroactive information
Absolutely necessary to understand website traffic conversion
What do you like best about the product?
I love using heap to track performance of web landing pages. Creating new events and funnel reports are so easy. We reports for all our important landing pages that we check regularly to track success and plan optimizations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cookies impede on not being able to get the full picture
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to understand page to form fill conversion rates. With that we have increased lead volume and pipeline.
Heap is great and user friendly, but there are certain limitations!
What do you like best about the product?
I like the interface and how easy it is to create things. The step by step nature is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that there are some limitations, like not being able to segment on certain things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to see how our Beta users use the app, engagement, etc. It's been great to check out individual user sessions and dive in there. We use Heap to see a really broad landscape as well as super specific.
The best way to monitor the UX of your product.
What do you like best about the product?
How you can configure data to produce different insights that support/refute a design. It helps you keep the product fresh.
What do you dislike about the product?
The technical complexity that it has to configure each dashboard. There is no a clear 'first step'
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring specific interactions on the UI of the product to see if there are patters of good/bad interaction.
Heap has helped up turn a corner!
What do you like best about the product?
Love the easily ability to define events in our application. It has always been a struggle as a product manager to prioritize engineering involvement in instrumentation of our application.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would really like to see some more options for how to visualize data. Being limited to pie, bar, line charts isn't great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding user journey flows in our application as well as how user convert on specific objectives. This is insight we just didn't have previously.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you follow your implementation plan!
Get every questioned answered with heap reports
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to retroactively see what users are doing on the site, and being able to create reports to check in on the same data week to week.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like more guidance or suggestions on what kind of reports that other companies are doing that maybe I haven't considered yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting more detailed in reporting and being able to slice and dice data in an easy way.
Heap gets you answers, fast!
What do you like best about the product?
I love the easy to read reports and all of the visualizations. We've also started using the feature that lets our data team "verify" some events and reports, so the ability to "self-serve" on the platform for non-technically minded folks has become super easy!
What do you dislike about the product?
There are lots of rabbit holes you can fall down, and sometimes too much room for customization. The visual event definitions are a great idea for getting non-technical folks to create new events, but they often end up with very brittle events that often need updating. In the end, we've found that data and technically minded folks will almost always have to be involved in setting up new events (this is not true for "combo" events, or filtered versions of other events, however!).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've solved the need for quick answers to small data questions that we want answered right away. Rather than relying on our data analysts or business intelligence team to run simple reports, non-technical folks can gather the necessary insights with Heap.
Data is a much bigger part of our day to day culture now that we have such easy access to it. And the burden on our data team is also lighter so they have a lot more time to run more meaningful analysis!

Heap makes it easy for me to analyze how users are interacting with our product
What do you like best about the product?
After a small learning curve, I'm able to create any reports I need to learn how people are using our products. As a non-engineer, it's still really accessible to me (even defining events, which I've been unable to do in many other analytic platforms) and I love the sense of autonomy I gain from being able to do this on my own and continue to support my team's growth based on data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes find the resources difficult to understand, mostly because my use case does not fit the ones they list. I wish they were a little less jargony and more straightforward. I also would love more nuanced features for sending email notifications as data changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work mainly in documentation so I'm looking to see areas where people stop using the product (funnels are helpful for this) or to understand under-utilized features that we might be able to support more people in using.
Love the tool for data driven design
What do you like best about the product?
The funnel conversion tools with customizations. I use this part of Heap the most; it usually informs my design decisions by helping me learn more about how users compare to past/current experiments and view the data with specific fitlers like comparisons / "users who have done" etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a learning curve for a tool like heap and the onboarding could be better. Additionally, I would love the capability to mass-add events or filters when analyzing a funnel conversion flow. It would be great to have a tool that allows you to select "compare users who have done XYZ to users who have not" instead of manually having to fill in the "users who have not" each time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a manager for a growth team, I primarily use heap to understand the user journies as well as high drop-off rates and user pathways. This helps me design experiments to improve conversion rates, it has helped me evaluate what features in our product are more beneficial to users and should be better highlighted.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend anyone who wants to use Heap to take the time to take Heap 101 and Heap 102 so they can become power users without many growing pains and use the tool for their needs.
Heap- real-time analytics with tons of flexibiltiy
What do you like best about the product?
Unlike other platforms Heap allows you to get data and analysis for "events' that you create immediately. No waiting for the data to be collected. You get instant insight into historic trends even if you were not officially tracking the event previously.
What do you dislike about the product?
Events definitions do not alwas comply with HTML coding best practices. If there are multiple items you want to track that are in the same element/container you need to specify for the dev team that you need those coded as separate items. Otherwise you do not have enough granularity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Insight into user behavior - particularly at the top of the funnel. Quick data when trying to make decisions about what to prioritize for users in the UX or what to consider deprecating.
