Easy to use and flexible Product Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Building queries and reports is easy and straight forward but what I sets them apart is that you can create events on any UX element and get the historical data on that once the event is created. In addition, any user can define UX events which is really helpful and reduces implementation cost. Reporting is very robust. Overall Heap is a powerful tool and some of their more recent features like Retention analysis match what is available with Amplitude and other more expensive analytics tools. It's built for both Product Managers and growth marketers and both find it easy to use. The data management aspects and integrations are alsy very useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their pricing model is based on user sessions which can be a pain to manage and may not align with your business. They just recently switched to unlimited users which makes it easier to share data and reports across the company. The dashboards are a little clunky. They don't have ability to do single metrics or custom metrics other than simple ratios.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking usage of new features, viewing behavioral patterns of users, improving acquisition and retention of users and analyzing business impact of product changes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider your implementation time and switching costs with product analytics. Also consider integration with onboarding tools like Appcues vs. an all in one solution like Pendo. Finally, make sure the pricing scales with your growth goals.
I have enjoyed it so far, just would like to know more about what each report measures
What do you like best about the product?
I love the simplicity of the event visualizer.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say I like the complexity of creating reports
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We currently have no data analytics within our platform, so this is allowing us to see what our users are doing and tailor our application in that way.
Great dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
The easy interface to great detailed dashboards
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited first party integrations with third party apps or limitations within the current integrations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping the team updated on usage trends.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Reliable and easy to use!
Quick and in-depth retrospective analysis of front-end interactions
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to define custom events and filter data
What do you dislike about the product?
May be overwhelming when you're first starting out
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing user workflows to determine the areas we need to improve (e.g., how many users add stuff to cart from page 1 of search?)
Heaps of user-friendly data
What do you like best about the product?
- When you set up a new event, data for that event is immediately available
- No developer time needed to set up events
- Easy-to-use and organize dashboards
- No developer time needed to set up events
- Easy-to-use and organize dashboards
What do you dislike about the product?
- Initial learning curve has deterred company-wide adoption
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identifying and prioritizing opportunity areas. We've identified a steep drop-off on registration rates and specific steps in our process that see larger drop-offs, and are prioritizing accordingly.
Excellent tool to quickly visualize your user journey
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy heap has made it to tag events in your product. You can quickly name all events and create funnels to visualize how users are using your product.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish heap allowed you to watch user sessions live or recordings similar to other tools. It's excellent for quick analytics, but not if you're looking for more visual data, such as what users are looking at on the page or what they are doing before taking the action you have tagged.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap allows us to visualize our customer journey, identify problem areas where users are falling off, and gather session information that we typically couldn't find with other tools.
Does what it can for the price
What do you like best about the product?
There is no doubt the time to insight is shorter than other tools that require manual event implementation. That being said, I'm finding developers getting involved anyways when trying to tag the events, so the only real value outcome is historical data once you've setup the tracking.
I do appreciate the way Heap is positioned because it can be an MVP for a "customer metadata source of truth"; the downside is to connect to your tools you have to pay for each and every tool you integrate with (its cost-prohibitive to connect all your tools -their pricing strategy is hurting them here to be a really sticky product).
An area outside the product that they shine is heap university - I've leaned on that heavily as we roll out the software to our teams, and it takes the load off of me to do all the training.

What do you dislike about the product?
The implementation has been lack luster, and its provided by a 3rd party company with sometimes slow turnarounds. I had hoped for a much more active implementation phase but it's really just us on our own with infrequent check-ins.
The value you can get out of the product interface really falls down against an Amplitude which is a powerhouse in contrast. Amplitude is more expensive though, so I do see heap delivering on the value they charge for.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We ended up using it right away for an obscure use case which really solidified the need for a product analytics tool (but not necessarily Heap - just the need for that level of product insight). As we continue to roll it out, Heap will be instrumental in our Growth efforts to glean insights off usage to better activate, expand, and retain our cusotmers.
been incredibly useful when learning customer behavior, especially as a new employee
What do you like best about the product?
makes data accessible, ability to define segment events
What do you dislike about the product?
sharing permissions, filter/sorting constraints, dashboard UI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
troubleshooting customer journey difficulties, testing new flows, doesn't open new pages when you click new links
Easy to understand
What do you like best about the product?
I loved Heap Academy - it helped me get started and understand what I needed to do.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it's an analytics platform, there's a bit of a learning curve, but that always takes time especially when it comes to Analytics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am trying to determine user actions through Heap. I love the live browser view where I can see real time and pick items and don't require engineering to come in and code for me.
Heap review
What do you like best about the product?
As an admininistrator for this application I find it very simple to add new users. I haven't had any reason to contact support due to not being able to add a user or for a user not being able to login.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't use it for analytics myself. I actually provide access to users. But as an admin I find it easy to add new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an analytics tool, it seems very easy to navigate through. I'm one of 5 techs that adds new users to this application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
From the administrator side, it is straight forward to add users. Heap is an application that was being used or implemented when I joined. To my knowledge we haven't used any other applications with the same purpose. Ialso haven't heard if there were thoughts or reasons to change from Heap. There hasn't been any anyone speaking of another option in any of the meetings I have attended.
