Powerful and flexible analytics platform -- All of the events without tedious tagging
What do you like best about the product?
I don't have to worry if I'm "missing" events or interactions in our data.
Heap ingests all of your page interaction data, with a few specific exceptions. That allows for a massive amount of flexibility in analyzing data later on. I don't have to tag events a priori. That means that I can go all the way back to when we deployed Heap and analyzed data from anything on the site, regardless of whether or not I specifically tagged it.
This is actually a huge deal for learning the platform, as it allows you to dynamically "tag" the data after the fact, providing you nearly instant feedback as you home in on the relevant elements to your analysis. Likewise, having Heap ingest all of the interactions means that I rarely have to bother the devs with additional work for tracking. That saves us time and money.
That flexibility also allows me to provide data-informed comments mid-conversation rather than following up days later, for example. That can be important in guiding discussions more productively.

What do you dislike about the product?
Coming from a more traditional data analysis background (SQL, etc), using Heap introduces a new layer of mental "translation," where I have to translate my research question into Heap's way of doing things. This has gotten easier, and I rarely feel the need to export row-level data to answer my questions.
Some of the analyses could use more polish in terms of visualizing the data (e.g. filtering out irrelevant data, etc). Some of the built-in time windows could use some reworking (e.g. "4 weeks" taking the average of 4 weeks rather than a 28 day window). These will likely improve as the product matures.
There are some limited ways to export row-level data, but in general, that feature is locked behind another product/add-on. Sometimes a proper analysis is just out of reach due to limitations in the GUI, coupled with an inability to fully export event data.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap's flexibility and integrations means that we can use it for analyzing nearly every aspect of our business. We use it heavily for product analytics, whether it's feature adoption, UI changes, onboarding, etc.
Very useful analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
Having access to data from other platforms that we are using within our organization, thanks to all the integrations they have!
I really like how friendly data charts are.
I really like how friendly data charts are.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment I don’t have anything specific I dislike, still learning to use the platform and being able to take advantage of all the features this platform offers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At my organization, it is essential to have data visualized so that anyone can access a dashboard and understand customers' behaviors, so Heap is helping us show that information and compare it with other data dashboards.
Easy Analytics for Great Insights
What do you like best about the product?
Helpful suggestions when creating report
What do you dislike about the product?
Event visualizer doesn't always pick up on elements
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps the team answer any questions we have when it comes to conversion. Heap's insights also add conversion steps that we didn't even know existed.
I highly recommend this tool to get web analytics
What do you like best about the product?
It makes retrieving quick insights really easy, it connects to Redshift and S3 very simply, allowing me to digest large datasets in a different enviroment for lightining fast internal user dashboard experiences. Heap Support provides an excellent service that is quick, personalized and full of screenshots and relevant links.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its snapshots feature needs more improvement for our use-cases. It only captures data immediately available, not live data that takes a second to load.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing quick analytics on web traffic and transferring that information easily to a third party for deeper analysis and connection with our data warehouse.
Great for detailed data to derive insights
What do you like best about the product?
I can access data and create detailed reports all on my own, without needing help from the data science team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to be able to add text boxes and other elements on my dashboards to add more explanation for the reports and how they relate to each other. That way, when I share the dashboard with leadership, they would be able to read my explanations directly on the dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap is solving the problem of data transparency. With Heap, I can access data and create detailed reports quickly and easily without the help of the data science team.
Great tool for web app event tracking
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up events on any front-end attribute, directly from the interface, with minimal coding needed. Easy for an analyst to do it themselves with minimal engineer involvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some basic analytics are not available. For example, there is no way way to track total session time for a specific user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing us to track usage and adoption of front-end product features
Built for Product, but still useful for CS
What do you like best about the product?
Heap is able to give us insight into how customers are using our product. Product can get all sorts of granular insights but within CS we stay more high level. Very useful features is seeing what customers are adopting new features that we roll out, or getting a sense of what customers might need additional enablement to get the most out of other features
What do you dislike about the product?
Segments within heap can drive a lot within reporting and if you are not an Admin user, it can be very hard to see behind the curtain to understand the nuances with Segments or even Queries. We had logic in our Customer segment that resulted in our results for past periods changing as time went on which was infuriating for Operations
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap helps us report on MAUs, Feature Adoption, Enablement opportunities and overall customer health. Product also has many more use cases, but those are the main ones for CS
Create smart website reports in minutes
What do you like best about the product?
Heap manages our many website interaction definitions logically which helps me create reports quickly. Also, their support is timely and always helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that Heap isn't built for deeply customized reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I get many questions from teams all across our business on the daily. These are usually straightforward and Heap helps me answer them quickly and effectively.

It has a steep learning curve, but once you understand how it works, it is an extremely powerful tool. Mobile integration could be challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data analytics, visualizing data, and making informed design decisions.
It’s extremely easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to create your own events as it recreates the front end of your site and you can just click which items you need
What do you dislike about the product?
