Anaplan is a user friendly and flexible tool

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is user friendly and easy to navigate, both as an end user and developer. It is flexible and can adapt to different business scenarios. Functionalities can be built relatively quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are limitations to functions and size of each model.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've solved problems such as sales forecast and financial planning with Anaplan. Benefits from using Anaplan for those use case ranges from cutting down the planning cycle time and transparency.

What do you like best about the product?
The platform has incredibly simple formulas that allow for both developers and business users to debug and correct any issues quickly. The ability to build a proof of concept model and further iterate off of that even after the primary developers have left creates an astounding amount of scalability for the product. Additionally through using Anaplan the companies I've worked at have all been blown away by the always on and always accurate nature of a cloud solution, especially where other products require significantly more downtime or refreshes to reflect large scale changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan could improve on the use of custom time dimensions to maximize the efficacy of the platform without causing a significant burden for the development team. The switchover functionality and versions work well out of the box, but additional work should be done to help minimize data sparsity and maximize efficiency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have worked on FP&A forecasting and budgeting solutions that have allowed for an entire enterprise to consolidate their planning process and significantly reduce the time to create an annual budget. Going from annual forecasting to nearly weekly forecasting. Additionally Anaplan has been instrumental at improving a Territory & Quota process at another company to standardize and regulate the way that employees are compensated for their work. In each implementation the result was that analysts and managers spent less time inputting the data and could spend more time reviewing and fine tuning their departments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider if you're company is actually ready for a large-scale transformation. No tool can do it all, but trying to build everything out in Anaplan or any currently available solution is likely to fail if you're moving current state processes, excel sheets, and unlimited granularity/flexibility to a new software.

Connected planning, best user experience, possibility to constantly enhance solutions.

Cloud planning not having best reporting, NUX capabilities still have restrictions.

Enterprises shifting their planning processes to a tool that can meet all their needs - every process can be clear and concise, and can seamlessly interact with the overall business processes

If your enterprise is looking for the best way to integrate all its processes and collaborate on all levels of the business involvement, Anaplan is the tool to go to.

What do you like best about the product?
A single platform that brings data and people together onto one platform, that is continuously improving in functionality and user experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
While being a flexible solution, it does not have some of the more complex capabilities of bespoke solutions that are specific to certain use cases and industries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan has helped to improve the Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting, Sales & Operations Planning Capabilities of many of our clients.
One of the greatest benefits that have been realized for many of our clients is bringing many people onto one platform, and greatly reducing the excels being used in their organizations, removing unmaintainable models, and large amounts of file sharing through emails.

How Anaplan provides a success planning model

What do you like best about the product?
App hub is the part that I like best that can provide people a high possibility of viewing potential functions they will have and give users flexibility to download and reconfigure based on business requirements. Also, the dashboarding is a very good feature that Anaplan has, it provide the possibility that user can see the immediate impact derived from the driver or assumptions. There's no need to move across a bunch of sheets to visualise the result.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I would say dislike for Anaplan is the new user interface. It's a good feature that provides better user experience but not all functionalities are well developed so far, some functions of traditional dashboarding are not supported in the NUX. Therefore this is a part that Anaplan can keep developing and provide more possibilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved a bunch of problems that clients have. The key benefit that we can take from Anaplan is the well organised planning approach for each end user roles. It's not a tool developed for single admin or only for CEO, it takes care of all users and provide very good navigation and path for everyone in the company. Also, the dashboard collaborates necessary information in same place that users can easily navigate or move to the page that they'll need to use or review.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it has been to connect multiple Anaplan models together so business data can be shared easy between groups. It has been seamless for users around the world to be in the system and collaborate.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not the best system for visualizations. Users often cannot view the data in formats that they would like, and there are sometimes functionalities that they see in excel that do not carry over into Anaplan that makes it difficult for them to view the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working with financial reporting and the problems we have been tackling are eliminating large excel files that need to be updated by global users. The benefits have been to consolidate large amounts of data, run calculations against them, and have users all over the world be able to quickly view and assess their financial reports.

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan's flexibility, ability to work at scale, and its extensibility make it an excellent tool that can be applied to large-scale business processes and more granular operational processes alike.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's licensing/pricing model. It's very confusing to both partners and customers, makes it harder to sell services than it should, and since those conversations occur towards the end of the sales cycle, it can create unnecessary tension between the partner and customer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I currently use and implement Anaplan to solve all kinds of problems for a variety of our clients. Most use cases have been within the FP&A, Supply Chain, or SPM areas of our clients' organizations but have also entailed some Call Center Planning, Contract modeling, and other interesting implementations. The primary benefits we've realized have been more efficient planning cycles that require less time and produce better plans, unleashing more creative potential in our clients' teams from increased collaboration in Anaplan, and enhanced analysis from greater transparency in the modeling and planning process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a partner, make sure you understand the licensing model so that you can help the client understand it and avoid potential issues coming from the Anaplan AE.
Otherwise, if you're considering Anaplan as a user just make sure to go through the Level 1-2 trainings, at a minimum. It will give a solid foundation to understanding the platform and the underlying technology.

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Anaplan's flexibility in allowing me to model nearly any business logic, regardless of complexity or unique company requirements, while keeping it clean and scalable. Despite its powerful capabilities, Anaplan operates with surprising speed, enabling quick model updates, such as changes in compensation plans or new scenarios, without needing to rebuild everything from scratch. This rapid adaptability allows me to transform ideas into functional models in a matter of days, rather than waiting for longer development cycles. I love the transparency Anaplan offers, as it allows me to trace numbers back to their source, providing an opportunity to address and fix discrepancies directly, which shifts planning from detective work to genuine operational intelligence. This traceability ensures that every metric can be followed back to its origin, facilitating instant issue resolution. The combination of flexibility and transparency makes planning faster, more efficient, and significantly more reliable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that Anaplan presents a steep learning curve for new builders. Understanding elements like sparsity, model architecture, and integrating lists, modules, and formulas can be overwhelming at first. Even for experienced users, navigating through Anaplan’s UX can be time-consuming due to quirks in the interface. Additionally, while data integrations have improved over time, they still fall short of the seamless and modern experience that many clients expect. Anaplan’s performance can decline if a model isn’t perfectly architected, leaving little room for error in design. Overall, while it’s a powerful tool, it requires skilled builders and thoughtfully planned governance to make the most of its capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Anaplan to replace chaotic spreadsheets with scalable models, providing real-time visibility and a single source of truth for planning processes. It enables flexible, transparent modeling, accelerating planning and reducing errors.

What do you like best about the product?
Due to Anaplan's architecture, when building a model you can focus on the model and dont have to worry about the container, like you have to do in excel. Dragging rows and formulas for example.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of the architecture, some relatively simple tasks in excel are much harder to accomplish in Anaplan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have solved complex cash flow calculations with Anaplan, the benefits received are better, more timely data.
