Incredibly Fast and Very Reliable CDN Provider
What do you like best about the product?
The product is very developer friendly and has allowed our team to provide a CDN seamlessly in our API to our customers. It allows us to provide the best experience for customers and have full control of the things we need to do. Great at customer success and at supporting our engineering team. Also work closely with product and sales in whatever way we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
More expensive than some other providers but worth the premium for sure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides us a lightning fast CDN for our product and allows us to scale as much as we need without any planning.
Extremely pleased with Fastly CDN
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Great Performance. Super fast updates. Great support. WAF easy to use and integrates with our logging and integration with terraform.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we first started with Fastly the SSL certificates were shared and expensive. They have recently moved to a new system that is much easier and cheaper.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Initially it was just performance. But being able to send to multiple backends helped us. Later we started using Fastly WAF and have much better insight into attacks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've used Akamai in the past and found it expensive as well as overly complicated for the things I needed to do. Fastly is the opposite. Additionally I like that everything is in varnish and I can look at the raw config when I need to. We did the free evaluation as a proof of concept and it worked out well. Pricing has been evolving for a bit and I think it's more flexible now. I also like that they've moved away from the shared SSL certificates to LetsEncrypt and it gets updated automatically.
Amazing features, services and support
What do you like best about the product?
Instant cache invalidation and ease of use to get up and running. Very tight integration with multiple platforms that help get things up and running quickly. The support is extremely knowledgeable and helpful in debugging and diagnosing any issues. Ability to stream log data for analysis to third party platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. I wish more of our customers were on this CDN platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to keep a majority of our website in edge cache. We typically see cache offloads of 90%+ resulting in extremely fast websites and reduced origin infrastructure costs.
CDN built for speed
What do you like best about the product?
Fastly's fast. It's fast to serve content, fast to purge content or deploy updates (both measured in seconds worldwide), fast to get an answer from support and from account managers.
Fastly also scales very well. With real-time logging and metrics, you can get the information you need immediately to get business intelligence and respond to incidents appropriately. During the COVID-19 announcements, we saw a 240x (no typos) increase in legitimate users. We were able to quickly scale our origin infrastructure to fulfill orders while Fastly's CDN handled the load without missing a beat. Competitor sites were unusable during that surge, but with Fastly, we were the only game in town giving customers the information they needed and helping them book the travel they needed to get back to their homes and families.
They're not resting on their laurels either, with new integrations into the platform and edge computing allowing for new possibilities. One favorite is their Fastly fiddle project allowing for quick testing or prototyping.
We've been using Fastly for many years and have been given opportunity to trial other CDNs and Fastly keeps coming out on top. It's a critical part of our infrastructure and helps us scale cost-effectively. And their support team is top-notch, providing detailed, technical answers to our questions.

What do you dislike about the product?
While Fastly's invested in excellent documentation and wizards, to unlock most of the power of the platform, you need to become familiar with Fastly's fork of VCL. This will require some ramp up.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Fastly's instant purge capability, we're able to use caching on objects that have very short life times, or unpredictable life times. We're able to cache our product catalog very aggressively and react to price changes through invalidation. With soft purge, we can continue serving from cache and background refresh the object from the origin. We've used this pattern in many areas to offload much of our origin traffic to Fastly, yielding overall lower infrastructure costs.
With VCL, we've also been able to build out sophisticated geo-targeted load balancing across multiple origins, giving our customers high availability. And Fastly's massive servers are deployed in the markets that matter to us and network peered with the cloud providers we use providing impressively small serving latencies.

Fastly is a dream to work with and has had a dramatic effect on website performance
What do you like best about the product?
Fastly makes highly technical tasks easy and provides my inner geek with endless optimizations. Not to mention their stellar support and beautiful API. Don't even get me started on purges!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to be honest. I guess if I had to choose a dislike it would be the flip side of what I like most and that is that Fastly is so powerful, sometimes I worry about what I am not taking advantage of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Initially I just needed a CDN to deliver static assets but am now deeply integrated with their amazing cache purging APIs as well as heavily using their Image Optimization service. I was able to remove a very complex local image optimization setup with simple URL params to achieve a massive amount of bandwidth savings and this faster load times for my website users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want peace of mind, an incredible tool and an amazing team to work with, choose Fastly. Your infrastructure deserves Fastly.
Great Team, Great Service, Developer First!
What do you like best about the product?
When selecting a vendor we look for a partner in our success. The Fastly team has a great product and an amazing team to support us. The team is quick to respond with technical question. They will also diligently work to find a contract and pricing that is best suited for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Fastly shielding feature is really awesome, but can add some complexity to configurations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fastly helps us deliver on our mission of quickly and efficiently getting assets to users that need them. The global presence of their infrastructure, ability to support complex caching architectures, and support to assist with those, allow our team to focus on our product while delivering best-in-class caching to our clients.
Awesome Product & People
What do you like best about the product?
The product works as advertised. If you need to serve your assets via a CDN, Fastly can do it and does it well. Also, the people are great to work with.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a lot of tech involved so expect to do some reading, but this is expected when a product as so many options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed something to cache our images so users don't always hit our servers. This has greatly increased our speeds on our server plus the speed the users' see when downloading them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Trial account is free, contact support if you need more time. But play with it and you'll see the benefits.
Takes the Hell out of WTH
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to configure my app incoming traffic, security, using varnish to deliver content based on rules, caching, CDN, easy of integration..... list goes on
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of out of the box support to integrate varnish as a GIT project and manage it as regular code

Application delivery and CDN for static assets.

GEt your app safer and more in your control with Fastly. Its just not a CDN. It is your own DNS abstraction

Fast all SSD CDN for the new generation
What do you like best about the product?
It is fast, not just in name, their all SSD network put the customers content at milliseconds from the end user. It has presence on 4 continents and more are expected this year. GitHub, Twitter and Imgur trust Fastly for their CDN needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has little to no presence in South America, South america is becoming larger and larger in the net and having presence there would be ideal for us

Gzip all endpoints to ensure webs are small and has a great Control panel with statistics and logs

Fastly has a pay as your go service, similar to that of NearlyFreeSpeech.net, very cheap for low volume traffic, and very fair at high volume traffic
