Powerful, developer-friendly CDN
What do you like best about the product?
Fastly has an easy-to-use UI, as well as developer-friendly tools like full access to the underlying VCL, a robust API, and utilities that allow for vast scalability. Small teams can onboard quickly and set some of the most common options easily. At the same time, developers and sysadmins can dive deep into the configuration and apply far more complex routing rules that unlock even more value from this service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because Fastly put significant effort into making standard configurations available from within the UI, they decided where those UI elements will go by default. Sometimes, that default location presents a challenge in more complex configurations, leading to workarounds that look messier than some might be comfortable with and occasionally leading to antipatterns.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are managing a portfolio of hundreds of customers with thousands of domains. Fastly allows us to solve 80% of our customers' use cases in about 20 minutes for each customer, regardless of how many domains they are bringing into the configuration. For the other 20% of use cases, editing the underlying VCL directly enables us to develop solutions within a few hours or days. The ability to manage all of these different configurations at scale has unlocked millions of dollars of revenue from customers that we would have been unable to sign otherwise.
Fastly provides a great CDN service
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility and reliability Fastly offers make them a great CDN choice
What do you dislike about the product?
Fastly requires a bit more technical experience to fine tune the CDN than other providers due to it being managed Varnish clusters, however it is very powerful once you get past the learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily use Fastly as our user facing CDN and content cache.
Been using Fastly for more than 5 years. Very happy with their product.
What do you like best about the product?
They are excellent at the fundamentals of Edge caching.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a straightforward way to run tests against VCL updates before rolling them out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are serving pages to our users faster.
Possibly my favorite vendor, and that's saying something...
What do you like best about the product?
Featureful, modern, easy to use, AND very reasonably priced? What's not to like? And their support is top-notch, too - when I've opened a support ticket, I've never felt like I'm getting a level 1 tech who's just reading from a manual, I've always gotten somebody who really knows their stuff. I feel good about using Fastly in a way that I never felt good about using other CDNs.
What do you dislike about the product?
API key management could be more polished.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using Fastly to make our site faster and more available around the world, and for almost anything Layer 7 that you can think of - custom redirects at the edge, geo-localized content and geofencing, protecting services with IAP, even image postprocessing, all available as managed services instead of software that we have to maintain ourselves.
Great CDN service - works well across US/Europe and outperforms our expectations!
What do you like best about the product?
Excellent After Sales Technical Support - helped us easily migrate from our existing services.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing for non US/Europe can be pricey but this is true of a lot of CDN's.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast Scalable service, ability to handle proper Origin Shielding and provide a resilient Origin failover.
Great features and service.
What do you like best about the product?
Simple UI. Great service team and features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Terraform support is good but not great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fastly has improved our user experience by providing edge caching and waf protection.

Amazing service. Great support team. Would recommend to anyone that wants a best in class CDN.
What do you like best about the product?
Support is amazing. Best in class service and support. This is leaps and bounds better than any other CDN service we've used in the past, from a technology perspective and from a support perspective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing I can think of. This is just a great service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted the best in class CDN for our ecommerce sites. Fastly checks all the boxes. Extensinve network of servers. Easy to use tools. Integrated well with our ecommerce platform. Nearly instant cache refreshing.
A CDN that lives up to its name: FAST!
What do you like best about the product?
At Agility CMS we use Fastly in front of our file assets and APIs. For the API we need to be able to instantly invalidate cache when data changes at the origin. Only Fastly was able to accomplish this worldwide in our tests in under 200ms consistently.
Also, as a baseline, requests to the CDN are really fast in terms of response time - usually under 100ms, often under 50ms.
Also, as a baseline, requests to the CDN are really fast in terms of response time - usually under 100ms, often under 50ms.
What do you dislike about the product?
The language to customize Fastly is VCL, which is based on varnish. While this is incredibly powerful as a language, its not something we were comfortable with. We had to learn VCL before we could even begin to take advantage of all Fastly has to offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Fastly, we have a fast system that our customers can rely on to always be up-to-date with the latest content, delivered incredibly fast.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get connected to the Fastly team if you have any questions. They are incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful, especially with those tough technical problems and questions.
Fastly API rollout for real-time sports data provider
What do you like best about the product?
Request collapsing made a huge difference for our environment. Also, the Fastly support team is very knowledgeable, making things relatively simple to integrate.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't really think of any negatives, it was a positive experience overall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to scale our high traffic APIs across the globe with relatively low price point
