Databricks is a very reliable way to run Spark
What do you like best about the product?
Databricks is the most reliable and flexible way to run Spark applications for data engineering workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Databricks is at the top end of the market on pricing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Databricks to run our Spark applications, which process hundreds of terabytes of data, need to be cost-effective, and run in a timely manner.
Make process easy for big data transformation
What do you like best about the product?
It's stores data in delta lake that basically helps to generate a backup of data doesn't matter if process failed every time it took cache of data and most importantly we can easily migrate it with any cloud platform to handle big data.
What do you dislike about the product?
For dislike I would say some time cluster takes time to run and it gives memory error and it's bit costly in use and sometime notebooks cells stuck in between run so team can work on it bit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it mainly in azure dala lake connection it can easily connect with storage and by applying transformation we can easily push tha data. Most important I use pyspark and sql spark in one notebook meaning we can write script whatever language we want. I use it for etl flow by connecting with azure data factory.
A great tool for tuning your hyperparameters
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best utilities for packing code into reproducible runs and tuning the hyperparameters.
What do you dislike about the product?
Merge with Azure data bricks was not very smooth & giving problems while using GPU cores.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was making a recommendation system on Azure Databricks, & I tuned the hyperparameters of my model using the MLflow utility. It served the overall purpose and was giving satisfying results in A/B testing.
Great product for uncovering data insights but not made for team projects
What do you like best about the product?
You can sync data from different systems all onto this one platform and everything can be analyzed without switching programs since you can also use many different programming languages and reap the benefits of each such as SQL and Python. This makes it so much easier to work with large datasets. Very nice user interface too!
What do you dislike about the product?
Very difficult to collaborate on projects using Databricks, it is its biggest downfall and in fact just almost outweighs the benefits. I also don't think their customer support is the best, have had some challenges with that. Otherwise a very good product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great way to uncover data insights easily from large datasets.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep in mind that you cannot collaborate on products. Technical support is also not the best!
Hassle free Spark
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best features on the platform is the ability to use a notebook environment and attach them to different Spark interpreters. I do like the user interface and the easy access to browsing files stored on the cluster.
What do you dislike about the product?
Controls are not really developed, it is hard to optimize runtimes. Databricks is expensive and we can not say it is the best for price/value.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking performance of millions of loans. We get responses much faster than without using big data tools. Some of the queries we run took days previously while now they take only minutes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to avoid Databricks proprietary special operators as they will not work outside of this environment.
