What do you like best about the product?
I like that a lot of components are built so you just need to use or manage it
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont like that i cant install driver and items on clusters to be used by multiple users

I also dont like that a lot of the GEN AI items (transformers, hosting own models, fine-tuning) doesnt work with the given examples from databricks
- makes something simple take weeks to develop
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LLM, Model development

Helps to use it. But doesnt really add the performance capacity when the DS arent using spark apis

What do you like best about the product?
Simple of use. One unique point of truth and of work. Very easy governance and very convenient and secure way of sharing the data, which is one of the biggest issue in the industry
What do you dislike about the product?
Not especially easy to handle at first, at least for the data engineering, real time streaming part.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Real time streaming processing of the data, and secure data sharing
These have been complicated to set up with other technologies, and is greatly simplified with Databricks.
Moreover the automated governance that is provided is greatly beneficial.

What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about Databricks Data Intelligence Platform is its seamless integration of data engineering, data science, and collaboration features. Its unified environment empowers teams to effortlessly collaborate on data-driven projects, accelerating innovation and enabling organizations to derive actionable insights from their data with ease and efficiency.
What do you dislike about the product?
Higher compute cost, missing data sharing feature similar to what we have in Snowflake
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Massive data Processing , I believe at present only Databricks is capable to process this great amount of data.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is I can choose any cloud provider for my infrastructure. The interactive environment called Notebooks which allows to write and execute codes is very easy to use. The magic commands are very much helpful. The UI is good and interactive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as of now but there can be more features added.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can choose between Single node and Multi node clutser according to our requirement which solves our problem. I can create workflows easily by connecting it to the notebooks and can also mention external parameters. Spot instances are very much cost saving. And the feature called Photon which helps in fast query performance at low cost.

Easy to collaborate with other team members who are working on it

  • March 28, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for reliability engineering, where we apply ML and Deep Learning models to identify the fear failure patterns across different geographies and products.

What is most valuable?

Databricks is hosted on the cloud. It is very easy to collaborate with other team members who are working on it. It is production-ready code, and scheduling the jobs is easy.

What needs improvement?

Databricks would have more collaborative features than it has. It should have some more customization for the jobs. Also, it has an average dashboarding tool. They can bring advanced features so we don't depend on other BI tools to build a dashboard. We are using Tableau to create a dashboard. If Databricks has more advanced features, we can entirely use Databricks.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Databricks for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable. It has been giving consistent outputs without any major issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is hosted on the cloud. It supports high scalability features.

10-20 users are using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

There was a training session from Databricks where they explained how to use it. We never had to contact them because they had already given us proper training on the platform.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Alteryx before. We switched to Databricks because it can compute and turn your code into production-ready code in very few seconds. Also, the stability is relatively high.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy.

What about the implementation team?

We have a dedicated team for the deployment.

What other advice do I have?

Delta Lake is a free system. We practically work on the data that we get from Snowflake. Databricks are returned to the model outputs that are returned to Delta Lake. It is easy for us to collaborate using Delta Lake, and the computation speed is also quite high for Delta Lake.

The learning curve for Databricks is not very steep. It's pretty easy, and you will find a lot of materials online. So, if you are comfortable coding in Python, it's very straightforward. There is nothing to worry about when using Databricks.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Databricks is seriously good stuff

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Date of breakfast well integrated and crafted suite of applications making a harmonious environment for all kinds of data, data warehouse and applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes things are not as smooth and easy as you wish but principally because features still in progress of improvements and discovery. I actually often find the shortcoming today is a naturally smooth add to the suite after the next release
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The common ones you are most looking for help with, velocity variety, column, and veracity. Made best and easiest with a thoughtfully integrated and crafted singular platform.

The best platform for all Data & AI needs

  • March 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've implemented Databricks solutions for multiple large enterprises and have therefore frequently used the product over many years. The platform scales extremely well and really helps build the data & AI ecosystem within large enterprises. Their support from solutions architects has always been extremely good. The platform itself is easy to use and integrating it with for example other cloud services (in Azure) is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
For legacy users, migrating stuff from all purpose compute to UC can be painful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many. For my current client (IKEA) We are building an e-learning data platform, to share learning insights to all IKEA franchisees globally.

Great platform for scale and muli-users

  • March 10, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The web interface allows for testing codes and scripts and making quick review tables before the implementation of pipelines. Otherwise the setup and navigation is quite initiative to manage. Finding some configuration takes a trip to the help docs but they are always clear and well linked to keep progress going.
What do you dislike about the product?
First-time cloud users might struggle unless they have been exposed to similar tools. My largest issue is with our company's admin and their anti-trust of staff. We have limited access to the full power of the platform, which means that, realistically, it is being used for much less than it is capable of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It creates a data warehouse for the global team to access the same tables with minimal impact on each other's work performance. It also allows the development and testing of queries to ensure they are optimised and return the expected results.

Calculations and analysis flows can be developed to expand the available data.
