Great alternative to large ETL systems

  • February 11, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is so easy to write jobs to pull or upload data. You can write ETL jobs in under 30 minutes most of the time. The source code is XML and can be quickly edited. It also has tremendous speed when accessing data in SQL server and DB2. I can access data from SQL Server faster than SSIS can on the same server.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't have a drag and drop interface. Compared to Datastage and SSIS it can be a bit difficult to get a good overview of what the job is doing. The other problem has been the quality of technical support. It is very easy to stump the technicians with relatively simple questions. That never happened before Linoma was purchased by Help Systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for ETL and for validity checking of data. It has helped us implement changes rapidly at low cost. We also get orders from our customers and send ASN's using GoAnywhere. Another neat thing to do is to extract data into Excel and email it to users instead of building a complicated BI report.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This product isn't necessarily as robust as Datastage or SSIS but it has some real good points. Don't dismiss it out of hand. It has a large number of reporting tools that let you know how a job has executed and you can see trends when a job has run longer than normal. It also has a lot of tools to make it usable in Sarbox companies.

The GoAnywhere MFT solution really streamlined our companies IT Ops processes.

What do you like best about the product?
The admin portal is a really concise way to handle all of my MFT needs. Projects, monitors, logs, and encryption vaults are all at my fingertips and easily accessible. The stability and ease of use was very helpful as a newcomer to the IT space. We have seen a drastic improvement in the number of transmission errors or dropped connections compared to our free to use software. Support has been beyond excellent. Upgrades have been seamless. I couldn't be happier with this product and will push to have this at any company I'm associated with.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that i dislike is that i am not able to set monitors on a specific day of the month. Some cross server functionality has some issues but there is always a workaround if you look hard enough. Syntax is a little weird so I also found myself contacting support often when looking into figuring out a new task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GoAnywhere in our organization is mostly used for its MFT benefits. It handles file transfers, encryption, and web portals for Clients flawlessly. Logs are most important though as everything in GoAnywhere is audit-able and it is a life saver.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
10/10 software and support. I wouldn't recommend any MFT solution over this one.

Go anywhere with Goanywhere

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like the best is it is pretty much click and go and it is able to be put on a scheduler.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not seen any downsides to using GoAnywhere.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it to send file from the IFS to a local server for the clients. This way they do not have access to the production IFS server.

GoAnyWhere MFT Review

  • February 04, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Securely send files in/out of the organizations without worries of them being compromised. Support is always there if we have an issue and more than willing to assist to get us back up and running.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far we have had no issues, thus cannot put anything down about any dislikes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Securely sending files that are encrypted is the major feature that we use to send sensitive information. The benefits received are the fact we have no worries the file can be decrypted unless the receiving end has the key to unlock it.

GoAnywhere MFT makes file transfers easy

  • February 04, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple to use interface, easy to setup new connections, and rather problem free experience. We were even able to interface it with our old AS400 systems we've been using for years.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't really a lot to not like, maybe that it wasn't free? We initially tried rolling our own free in house solution but it was just way too painful thus we bought MFT.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GoAnywhere MFT handles dozens of vendor file transfers that happen in our network practically 24/7 and it has never let us down. I'd guesstimate the uptime of this product has been 99.99% over the past many years of use.

Easy, Efficient and Powerful

  • December 06, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
The product is very easy to use and configure for our systems, where I can send the end users for my organization to a single point and they simply upload and files automatically are ingested into our product.

What I have further found is the powerful workflow (project) capabilities of GoAnywhere MFT where we can add logic to the files, users, REST Endpoints, and this is making this product far more powerful than I originally thought it could be.

Our use of this product is currently for moving files from our MFT server to various servers using some logic and applying those files to the correct locations.

Other usages that we have are to pull files from various locations, and also now we are able to manipulate users and perform other logical events using the Projects functionality.

What we have been able to implement user manipulation using separate coding through Python to leverage the APIs which are provided by GoAnywhere. We have also been using the Apis for uploading files.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think one thing which end users are sometimes complaining about is the speed of uploads from the web UI, from the FTP client uploads are much quicker but our end users aren't always savvy to use the FTP clients.

The end users have suggested that a more user friendly UI could be of benefit because they would expect the upload location to be something like under a /ftp folder or a /root folder, but the UI only shows their main folder, which then we have to manually add a false folder called FTP or root.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The product will ingest files into a system from a given location. End users are business users and not always technical so what this product has allowed us to do is provide the end users with a single point for file uploads and the files are then quickly and easily ingested into our product.

Users who previously would have had difficulties or required assistance to ingest files into the system, have now been able to upload and ingest files much faster, and it has also allowed us to expand the end user base so that more people are able to use the system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ask about all of the possibilities and additional functionality of the product. You may find that the product might be able to do more than you expected and be able to solve other needs for you which you weren't aware of.

Providing a more robust Web Services User Guide with full examples using Java, Python or Node. This would allow end users to implement those with a bit more ease.

One of the top MFT tools

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast efficient and mutli platform MFT solution. Combining a very good File transfer server supporting SFTP, FTPS, and HTTPS and adds a very powerful scripting engine. This means we have been able to connect the scripts to read CSV files and write data directly into databases, have also hooked GAMFT to monitor fields in Salesforce and can trigger actions if needed.

Our system is very heavily used with in excess of 4000 processes spread accross 150ish customers handleing millions of files movements every month between internal systems.

GAMFT can be hooked into many different end points to either extract information or push data to.

Support is generally very good.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the reporting is basic, but with SQL connections back to its own DB it gereate any report you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
helping to move nearly 3m SFTP transfers per month between customers.
Connecting to many internal system including MQ servers, Databases, Saleforce and cloud services
