GoAnywhere really goes almost anywhere!!

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility - it can do reporting, data transfers transfers, connect to web services, etc. There are monitors and triggers to help speed processing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Send Email System is Not Stable -- Support hasn't been able to resolve.

We recently found an issue where we were running a Trigger to process an Inbound file. The trigger ran a CL on the AS/400. The CL was getting a MSGW (i.e. going into error). When that happened, it would not let anyone else connect to the system (via sFTP) -- it just wouldn't respond to them. However, there was no notification that the system was locking up due to a job -- it would just lock up. Sometimes it would go hours until we would find it. At first, I was taking down the whole system and bringing it back up as I didn't know that there was a job hiding out that was causing everything. I wish the system would've reported that in some manner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It almost 'does it all'. We bought it to do File Transfers on the System i (AS/400) -- a replacement for ZMod TruExchange. However, we found that we can also initiate transfers from .NET via Web Service calls, use it to generate reports to Excel Spreadsheets (including formatting columns -- we would've had to write programs for some of the awesome reporting uses) as well. We have since purchased Secure Folders and Inbound FTP and have utilized Monitors and Triggers to provide faster response time to processes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you give it a chance, you will find it will give you more than you could expect.

GDPR File Transfer Saviour

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The data encryption at rest was the primary reason for purchase of a new product over our old one but we found this product did so much more and was modular enough to pick and choose what we required.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can take some time to configure as it is quite a powerful product and unfortunately there aren't wizards to follow, but once you get used to it, it does become quite intuitive to set up. We did the configuration in house but would recommend configuration from a third party if your team is short of research time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meets GDPR requirements + has many many features
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you know what each module of the product does and get advice on what you are trying to achieve

Nice managed file transfer product

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
the killer features of MFT anywhere are Active directory integration (even if the MFT server is in a DMZ, apart from the domain controller... only ldap access is needed), and the secure mail feature (a bit like wetransfer, but managed, and can be used for requesting a file as well, not only to send a file
What do you dislike about the product?
actually ther eis a drawback... its interface is only in English
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
controlling file transfers from and to our company, for all users, allowing large file transfers without resorting to free, untrusted services liek wetransfer

So much more than just SFTP

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to see quickly what file transfer workflows have completed with their status with a link to detailed log for any run.
What do you dislike about the product?
Folder monitors are really just scheduled polling instead of hook in a listener to the underlying file system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GOA replaced a simple SFTP package that could only kick off a single script for all file upload events. So that script had a huge if-then-elsif block that looked at the user that had sent the file and a function to handle details based on user account. As such, logging for all those accounts was in one huge file that rotated daily. Finding what had been UL'd/DL'd each day was a total pain.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Unknown to either side, our primary trading partner was undergoing their own eval to migrate from homebrew scripts and chron jobs to run bash scripts for SFTP. They also chose GoAnywhere as "best bang for the buck". Save yourself time and just install the 30-day demo to see how good it is.

Expidite Your Scripting

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It allows a person that has limited scripting capabilities to automate their data transfers.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve, but this was easily overcome with assistance from technical support and documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automated transfer of encrypted data files between business partners.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a scripting software to assist in automating data transfers, then you should consider purchasing this.

Great Product and Highly Scalable

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how scalable it is with projects! You can adopt anything you like in an easy to use interface and you can literally meet any business requirement thrown at you. Auditing makes it really easy to troubleshoot and gives a clear picture of all the activity being done by our clients. It also implements good security features such as IP whitelisting per user account which makes it much more secure and puts our mind at ease especially for sensitive projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Graphical User Interface for the admin could be more modern and flashy but nothing too bad. The client portal has a mich better design
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have one solution for all our file transfer needs. We purchased this product for one project but quickly realised its benefits and started using it on all our projects
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know your business requirements and only implement the modules that you need. It is greatly distributed in modules to meet any budget and requirements

MFT made easy and functional!

  • June 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and intuitive interface lessens the administrative burden and allows rapid on-boarding of new admins. Of the all the MFT products we tested (and it was many), the GoAnywhere interface was by far the most efficient and intuitive. Additionally, the ease of installation, implementation, and administration is an absolute blessing. We have rolled out environments in just a couple of days and had users trained in the administration of the product in less than an hour. It just works!
What do you dislike about the product?
Like any GUI, there are some annoyances. When auditing large logs, the GUI can freeze and it makes auditing through the interface difficult until you can work in some sideways audit to free it up. Additionally, autocompletion of inputs will not fill in correctly (doesn't matter if you use FF or Chrome) and will accept the clicking of the choice as the input rather than allow autocomplete to fill in. Frustrating first world problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We replaced our homegrown hand written file transfer architecture with GoAnywhere MFT. It immediately decreased admin overhead, performed better, and was more resilient than our scripts laying on top of SFTP processes. That alone made it a HUGE win.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an all encompassing EDI/B2B/Do Everything suite with a large budget, little agility, and copious amounts of excess staff you can throw at a problem, then something from Axway or Cleo might be up your alley. If you want something to handle file transfers and actually decreases the administrative overhead burden already sitting on your admin's shoulders, then go with GoAnywhere. It works. Well. VERY Well.
