What do you like best about the product?
They are continuously add improvements to all of our customers sites. They are responsive to both business and technical questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am completely satisfied with our relationship.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a company that develops software for the Wordpress technology stack. WPEngine allows us to outsources 100% of the DevOps responsibilities to them. They are proactive in the engineering of improving how all of our customers sites are performing. They are responsive to both business and technical questions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate the money and the time spent with management of the various hosting vendors. Choose one and recommend them to your clients.

WP Engine has proven to be the perfect hosting service for an independent news website.

What do you like best about the product?
Immediate technical support by phone in the event of a problem is a lifesaver. But the ease of launching a new WordPress site is a close second best. The automatic backups are also a big plus. WP Engine is really a complete hosting solution for an independent publisher.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing to dislike. Even when an occasional technical hiccup like a DDS attack has caused a problem, WP Engine is quick to fix it and always apologetic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For an independent publisher, the problem solved is finding inexpensive and reliable hosting. There's very little guesswork in using WP Engine for a WordPress site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's the easiest and most reliable hosting for publishers.

Powerful and fast full-feature hosting

  • April 04, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Automated updates and even roll-backs if WP Engine detect that an update has interfered with your WP install. You get a CDN built in so it's really fast, and a staging environment built in too for testing on a real environment before you push a site live.
What do you dislike about the product?
On occasion when I have pushed a site from staging to live my FTP access has been reset and I've had to set up a new user/password. Nothing major
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It means both internal and remote developers have a staging area to push new features live, safe and fast. We don't need to make special effort to back up or keep our WP install upto date.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
So long as you're familiar with WordPress, dive right in. You can even administer your WP Engine account from inside your WP admin

An Excellent web host

  • April 03, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One thing that really stands out with WP Engine's service is the hosting speed; and it's VERY fast. Our experience with WP on the reliability side has been nearly 100% up-time. When we migrated away from our old host, it was fairly seamless and they did a very good job of doing things FOR US. Excellent service. The service is always very affordable in contrast to other services out there that offer literally a quarter of the service level WP does. WP's customer service levels are also spectacular and I was very pleased with the clear level of knowledge and professionalism with their technical team.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only real gripe on WP is that they only offer WordPress based hosting but that's OK because their level of service is amazing, I just wished they offered more services! I'd love to see how they'd fare at hosting other mediums / services. It can also be expensive but again, you're paying for quality and a very high level of service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WP offered a fairly large amount of site visits on their business tier plan (around 400K if memory serves me right). Also, we needed a larger number of sites and they offered 25 different sites in the business tier package and again, that was very helpful to us having a more complex web presence.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep in mind that WP engine ONLY hosts WordPress so if you have a diverse environment, they might not be your sole sourced solution.

excellent, reliable

What do you like best about the product?
WPE is a reliable, solid provider with superb service. I've been routinely pleased with the quality of their numerous new hires over the course of each year I've been with them. Most providers become buried under the weight of their own success but so far, WPE has maintained exemplary levels of technical and support service.
What do you dislike about the product?
They already fixed the one major issue with how they bill overages but beyond that, the lack of integrated domain registration and email service does require a great deal of added hassle on my end. the only other issue is if you are a provider that has a number of client installs where the majority are low traffic, their plans can be very limiting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consistency, security, and reliability.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check your need for installs and make sure you won't end up with growing pains.

After a long time out in the wilderness with other hosting companies we've finally found our home!

  • March 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Everything works. As it should. Every time. The support is excellent, fast, knowledgeable and professional. The site's uptime has increased hugely since moving to WP Engine and we (touch wood) seem to be avoiding being taken down by attacks; which used to be a regular occurrence.

I can't compare them to our last hosting company because the differences are far too great. Very glad I've got our site with WP Engine - my only regret is that I didn't move our site earlier!

For once the reality lives up to the expectations, which is unusual!
What do you dislike about the product?
Literally nothing! WP Engine works and works well. It ticks all the boxes we asked for and more besides.

They're constantly innovating (and importantly sharing these updates with us). To say I'm impressed is an understatement. They came highly recommended to me by someone I've known for a long time and trust. I would also recommend this company in a heartbeat to anyone looking for excellent reliability, speed and protection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having continuous uptime is vital as we have a worldwide audience and rely on 24/7 availability so our videos can be viewed and purchased. Our video download numbers have increased effectively paying for WP Egnine's costs (and then some).

Our audience is located all across the world and WP Engine enable us to have fast response times to the site no matter where the users are located - something we couldn't achieve before and suffered lost sales and users as a result.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't hesitate! Jump right in. Virtually ALL pre-sales talk a good talk and often the service doesn't (or can't) live up to what you were sold....In the case of WP Engine fact is fact (not fiction!)

Complete peace of mind WordPress hosting

  • March 26, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature about WPEngine is the built-in one-click staging environment for every site that is hosted on my server. It has saved hours of time and is a real game changer for our business.

We also love the support provided by the support team - it's brilliant and almost always able to fix the problem we are having.
What do you dislike about the product?
1) The lack of 24/7 live chat. Being based in the UK we don't have any access to live chat for most of our working day and calling a USA phone number is costly.

2) the inability to change site name/site url from the WPE dashboard. When we create a new install there should be a box to re-name the WP site and tagline rather than making it the default one everytime.

3) the long way of having to change password for each new install via the 'lost password' function rather than being able to set it in the new installation box.

4) not being able to create a staging area from the WPE dashboard, instead having to login to the site each time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We help businesses maintain their WordPress websites. We have realized many benefits of using WPEngine to host those websites including automatic WP core updates, backups, staging area for testing updates and of course the amazing support from your engineers to help fix problems on some of these websites.

WPEngine for the win!

  • March 24, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The support team is top notch. The fact that we don't have to worry about client sites getting hacked is a big relief. Launching new dev setups takes a few minutes whereas with our old server manager and cpanel, it was always a big ordeal.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike really. The setup process can be a little buggy but nothing severe. For a while the live chat wait time was a pain, but it definitely seems better lately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WPEngine allowed us to ditch our Amazon server and the consultant we were paying a retainer to manage it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A lot of agencies and freelances really struggle with hosting issues. Moving this off our plate by going with WPEngine was one of the best decisions we've made. The only friction was that by doing so, we had to change our policy to not host email any more, which caused some client complaints but was ultimately a great decision.

Get rid of your hosting headaches once and for all

  • March 18, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
While it's easy to get WordPress setup on almost any host/server, WP Engine is designed from the ground up to help WordPress developers. Even better, there support team is full of WordPress experts that are quick to help anytime an issue arrises.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first, the price of the service was somewhat "scary". It's much more expensive that a traditional "shared hosting" - however, after using WP Engine for a couple of weeks, you will quickly realize it is much more than just another web host - WP Engine is a hosting platform built for WordPress.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Have you ever had a client website go down over the weekend - or even worse, stay down for an entire weekend? It's not a fun issue to explain to a client and can literally take money out of your pocket. With WP Engine, we no longer worry about those types of issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the free trial for a spin - you get 60 days to completely test the system, risk free.

WP Engine is an Extension of our Business

  • February 15, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface. WP Engine is crafted just for WP. Furthermore, they took conventional hosting (think cPanel) and turned it into something you want to use. Never have user permissions and backups been so simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Coming from conventional hosts to WPE, it's very hard to find something to dislike. If I had to say one thing: it's lack of 2 way Git support. However, I know it's in the works! So, all good. ;)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We focus on WordPress development. Before, I had to manage a server. With WP Engine we no longer have worry about things that aren't our strengths, and instead we can focus on those that are. Hosting no longer takes in our day to day problem solving. We know we have partners who handle it best.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
WPE is great if you use WordPress. In addition to managing security and back-ups, there are a lot of excellent plugins that WPE offers, including:
- A separate cron service (for those of you familiar with the WP Cron!)
- GeoIP plugin
- Object caching and CDN

All of these have been incredibly useful for us. Plus, their staging environment is incredibly easy.

I sound like a huge WPE fan, mostly because I am. :)
