Vertex experience - 24 Hour Fitness
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex experience and reliability. We have been using Vertex for over 10 years now. Vertex continues to provide the needed tax calculation consistently.
What do you dislike about the product?
It appears that system maintenance appears to be increasing in frequency which always brings about some concern on up time. Maintenance is good but frequency does raise some concern.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Vertex On Demand allows for a central tax engine with minimal requirement of IT support such as loading monthly rate updates etc.

What do you like best about the product?
When I've needed to reach out for help, whether it's help from my rep or customer service, they are quick to respond and make sure I'm taken care of. They are great at explaining solutions for issues that I have.
What do you dislike about the product?
The system is a little hard to navigate. I will be utilizing the Vertex University courses to get a better understanding of the different screens and how to properly create reports, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vertex provides up to date sales and use tax rates for us to quote and later collect from customers when they make purchases.

Vertex is simple to use and easy to navigate.

Customer service response can be delayed.

Vertex helps our team stay organized and keep track of the ever-changing sales tax compliance landscape.
Great product for tax calculation
What do you like best about the product?
Vertex can easily integrate with ERP systems. Easy to use and flexible enough to handle different tax scenarios.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, content updates are slow. Certain logic only fits the US market such as line item level tax calculation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One integrated shared tax engine for multiple billing systems. We only have to set up the tax calculation rules in Vertex and not separately for each billing systems.

The SALT rules and regulations are maintained and managed by Vertex

Trouble shooting transactions when research is needed. Obtaining the SIC code is impossible as I do not have technical access

SALT compliance. By Vertex filing the returns I can spend my time on reconciling and helping customers with their inquires

They should have some kind of loyalty program for long-term clients or something to overset the price increases

Vertex is helping us centralizing sales tax collection and being compliant with all new sales tax legislation

There is a large customer community to discuss the product with and get ideas and feedback about configuration options.

Customer support is sometimes not as quick or helpful as I would like.

Vertex can successfully calculate tax throughout all jurisdictions in the United States, including specialty taxes and fees, like 911 fees, bottle deposits, bag fees, etc...
Vertex O series review
What do you like best about the product?
As an engineer using Vertex O series for tax calculation, the integration was seemless and I don't need to care about any tax updates as its done by Vertex for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some updates tends to stall/slow down responses from vertex O series, causing issues for our services which consumes tax calculation responses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves U.S tax calculation.

Implementation costs and licence fees are high.

Tax determination rules can be much easier maintained in VErtex than in SAP.

Very Frustrated
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud/web-based. Portal is easy to use. On surface, tax rules and set up is fairly easy and straightforward.

What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboard views - no details from the visuals. Reporting needs to be better. No alerts when there are errors on the returns. Customer Service/premium service teams are not helpful in resolving issues with data on returns.
Several times leaving me to manually file without understanding the returns. Configuration changes are not retro to the beginning of current month. Does not support CO SUTS filings.
