What do you like best about the product?
When troubleshooting performance problems or errors, having access to log data in conjunction with APM metrics, traces, and events can significantly expedite the root cause analysis process.
What do you dislike about the product?
New Relic's interface and configuration options can be complex, particularly for beginners or non-technical users. The abundance of features and settings may require a learning curve, and there could be a perceived lack of simplicity in the user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
New Relic's free offering provides a robust set of observability features, including APM, infrastructure monitoring, error tracking, and more. We have appreciated the breadth and depth of these capabilities, allowing us to gain insights into their applications and infrastructure performance without incurring additional costs.
New Relic's free offering is designed to handle small to medium-sized applications and infrastructure needs. we have reported that the platform scales well and provides reliable performance, even when monitoring systems with significant traffic and complexity.

Best tracing and logging service out there

What do you like best about the product?
Easily create dashboards, query and compare metrics and logs, near realtime events, APM and distributed tracing, everything a modern web application needs in one suite of tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sending events our side the platform can incur extra costs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Distributed tracing and logging. Easy to trace and locate issue between services.

What do you like best about the product?
Everything is in one place. The APM is exceptionally good and you can find n+1's so easily. Also you can just right into problematic lines. This is way better than Datadog's APM.
What do you dislike about the product?
The 100GB free Demo Tier gives you about a week of bits and bobs. To be able to evaluate it properly and in more realistic conditions you need to pay right away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
New Relic brings it all together in one place. One login, one place to look for just about everything you want to know and debug. This saves so much time jumping back and forth into other tools and places, trying to puzzle together even the smallest things.

What do you like best about the product?
New relic offers lots of useful data, is easy to set up and has a very generous free tier.
What do you dislike about the product?
The data querying feature has been difficult for us to use and understand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
New relic shows us real time load and response time along with errors and individual transaction statistics which helps us find and fix issues in less time.

What do you like best about the product?
One of the things I like best about New Relic is its comprehensive and user-friendly observability platform. With New Relic, I gain deep insights into the performance and health of my applications and infrastructure. The platform provides real-time monitoring, intelligent alerts, and powerful analytics, allowing me to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact my customers. Additionally, New Relic offers a wide range of integrations and customizable dashboards, enabling me to tailor the monitoring experience to my specific needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I guess these days the most challenging side of NR is the complexity of the platform - extensive features and capabilities can be overwhelming for users who are new to monitoring and observability. Setting up and configuring the platform may require a learning curve, and some users may find it challenging to fully utilize all the available features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using NR mostly for application performance monitoring

What do you like best about the product?
Observability for your whole software stack, from infrastructure to applications to user experience, on a single platform. This makes it simple to obtain a comprehensive understanding of your system and solve issues quickly.

Has many analytics tools available, such as metrics, events, logs, and traces. This enables you to analyze the data further and identify the underlying reason for performance issues.

Even for non-technical users, it is simple to utilize. Various pre-built dashboards and reports are available on the platform, including an easy-to-use user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Costly: New Relic One is a paid platform, and some businesses may find the cost prohibitive.

Inflexible compared to several other platforms: Fresh Relic One's flexibility falls short of that of several other observability systems, including ELK Stack. For organizations with complicated requirements, this may be an issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You may increase the speed and dependability of your program by using the powerful observability platform New Relic One. The platform has a large selection of analytics tools and is scalable and straightforward. However, some businesses may find the fee prohibitive, and the forum is not as versatile as other choices.

A stable and scalable APM tool that needs to improve its documentation and logging capabilities

What is our primary use case?

Regarding use cases, we use it for app support. So basically, we use the APM module, and we also use it for monitoring.

How has it helped my organization?

It has helped my organization to dive deeper into the application using the APM module is very helpful. So when we're looking for problems of why an app is behaving incorrectly, we can dive deep into it using the APM module.

What is most valuable?

I would have to say the APM module is its most valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

Documentation is one of the biggest things that I have a problem with since its documentation is not clear sometimes.

Logging right now is something I want to improve. So, every log that you have has to have an issue. So logging needs to be probably set right.

I would like to see more logging capabilities in the solution. If they can accept logs, they just can't report. So, I guess reporting on logging is something I want to see in the future.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using New Relic for ten years. Also, I am using the solution's latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the product is high.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a very scalable product.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the support a four out of ten. One of my biggest frustrations was related to its support.


How would you rate customer service and support?

How was the initial setup?

New Relic is deployed on the cloud. The ease or complexity of deploying the solution depends on the piece that you're deploying. The app pieces are pretty standard when the infrastructure is more complex.

What was our ROI?

I have not experienced any return on investment using the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think it's overpriced for the technical support that we get. We spent over 1,00,000 USD a year.

What other advice do I have?

To those planning to use the solution, I would say to do as much setup as you can upfront with the technical support reps that helped set things up because trying to set it up later is more difficult.

What do you like best about the product?
Is easy to install on most platforms and gives a great glimpse into how the platforms works.
When working with codebases that we may not know, it's incredibly useful for making sure they work as expected.
What do you dislike about the product?
When a deployed software has a proxy not monitored in between, it doesn't associate well with the server application and frontend side application.
The per full user license is excessive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to monitor our server and applications to ensure uptime and find improvement and optimizations opportunities

Arbitrary charges

I subscribed to this on Aug 30, 2022 to try it out. I didn't receive any charges until recently (June 2023) they started charging me.
I haven't used/changed my AWS resources and all I can see in Cost Explorer about this charge is "New Relic APM, Logs + Infrastructure Monitoring (PAYG with Free Tier)".

Oh, good luck getting support from them as well. They seem to have a "forum" but no direct support ticket you would expect.
