Most trusted, fast, lightweight, command-based desktop. I have a repetitive strain injury & this desktop is perfect for me as I could use less mouse and more commands.

I loved this desktop a lot. Nothing I can think.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mainly was doing software development using Java, Android, Python, and also building and deploying the code as SDK.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For people who love the command-based interface, this is the best desktop as it is secure, reliable, open-source compared to other desktops. Most tools are downloadable from the Ubuntu Software Center for project management or personal use free of cost.

Ubuntu is the most popular product for development, it's easy to use and with the terminal, users can work and improve their skills. It's very fast and use less memory that expected
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there is no concrete something that I dislike, maybe it's not comfortable in the first time to use a terminal for work, but after some time you can adapt with it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The most common problem that I solve, it uses docker for my application, before used windows and it's very difficult to work with docker, but with ubuntu it's easy and fast

Best Distro Ever, From Home To Enterprise Cloud Vendors

  • November 04, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
one of the best distros, I've been using it for more than 4 years now, as a DevOps engineer in each and every move I take ubuntu as my base image, the one and only reason for that is, is its simplicity, stability, community support and open-source! I never had complaints about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I have to complain I would say compatibility for games and graphics cards support but hey if we compare in the previous year every release it is improving a lot so not many complaints I have about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed a distro that is supportive in every way in every step of my moves and it must be smooth to use, and as a DevOps engineer, it is more than enough for me to use it in every way it supports me from building applications to using webs, basic utilities etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're worried to try it out directly, you can try it in a virtual box and decide but I would say at least give it a shot, it won't let you down.

Daily Ubuntu user review

  • November 03, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is the best OS of linux , it is the sweet spot between windows and Linux , very user-friendly and easy to use, I am using ubuntu in my organization and I have not a single complaint about the user experience that Ubuntu provide to its end users. It is a very lightweight OS loads fast on power-on and closes instantly on power-off. If you are using SSD on ubuntu that will be hell-fast. I use VS code and IntelliJ on Ubuntu to develop web applications and it runs those software very smoothly.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be tricky to install ubuntu for new users, who are new to Linux environment, software updates are limited to ubuntu which can sometimes be a tedious task. otherwise, ubuntu does give any chance of complaint to its users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a software developer, I use ubuntu terminal and other apps like VS code to develop code, test the application, run the servers and ubuntu provides a really good experience in doing all those things. Due to its lightweight OS it runs very smoothly over the system and consumes very less resources to run OS so you have more free resources to do your tasks and all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend ubuntu to users who use the terminal often and want some good UI experience also , it is a lightweight OS it so it runs smoothly.

Ubuntu has become the corporate de facto standard for Linux

  • October 31, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is well supported, stable, and its popularity attracts developers to do more on the platform. It can be used for standalone application use but is also essential in creating target builds for embedded devices. It is also free, a tremendous advantage for individuals versus Windows or Mac OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even with years of experience with Linux, I sometimes struggle with the installation of applications. Specifically, there are several methods of application installation depending upon which distros are used. In some cases, the installations require me to search for the exact method to perform depending on how the application is packaged.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is our host platform for embedded Linux builds.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan your installation. Consider the hardware resources, memory, storage, etc. that will provide the performance you will need.

Ubuntu, a viable alternative to Mac OS or Windows

  • October 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu works well on computers not supported by Mac's security updates. It works on computers that have started getting slow because of large operating systems. I like the adaptability of the user interface. I like the updated software package manager. I like the open-source tools I have come to depend on. The ongoing support from Ubuntu for older distributions means I can install it and keep using it for years if it is working well. I like the expandability and ability to use other flavors of Ubuntu like XFE. With recent cloud-based solutions for Microsoft products, I no longer find myself wishing I had a windows machine for the newest Microsoft Office suite. I find myself using Ubuntu or one of its derivatives with more and more confidence as each new version is released.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very little. Occasionally, I will turn to a derivative of Ubuntu that has been optimized to work with graphics cards or other specific hardware. Otherwise, troubleshooting things like why a specific button on a laptop keyboard isn't working or why the sound isn't working with Bluetooth can be time-consuming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu Linux whenever I can, for home computing, higher education, community education.

Ubuntu is a great choice for a desktop operating system.

  • October 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how intuitive the interface has become with the new Unity desktop environment. I also like the other available desktop environments, such as Mate, KDE, and Gnome. I also like how easy the application installer has become.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not sure if I dislike anything about Ubuntu as a server or desktop operating system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In helping a friend with their HP Stream computer, we found that the minimal storage space on the device left almost no room to download updates or save very many files. I believe the laptop had a 32G hard drive, and Windows was taking the majority of it. After installing a minimal Ubuntu desktop installation on the machine, all of the functionality worked, and there was around 20G of free space.

Most Secured Linux Operating System

  • October 24, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is extraordinary on the grounds that it allows you to tweak to what you need for your PC. Ubuntu makes the learning system pretty simple, and it's an extremely instinctive working framework. I like how they further develop Ubuntu, at regular intervals with new deliveries. LTS adaptations are a great thought for stable conditions and purposes. A portion of the applications is as of now preinstalled in this framework which fulfills the essential requirements like browsing. This choice is an extremely conservative choice in the working frameworks. It's actually lightweight, so we can reuse old equipment. You have the opportunity to make something you need. With Windows or Mac OS, you can't redo the working framework to how you need it to be.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have much to dislike it but switching from Windows to Ubuntu is a little bit difficult for beginners. Finding support for application similarity and other stuff is troublesome. A few virtual products are not viable with ubuntu and we don't get the required drivers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
t's simple to distinguish a number of cycle rattle off and count and furthermore oversee server arrangement and server load through the appropriation through the heap balancer. It's simple to utilize like windows however it's quicker and stable than it and it's quick on startup and closure the GUI and the Desktop appearance and it's simple to utilize like windows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Since its Command line tool is the most powerful, so I will highly recommend it for the software development-related folks to use.
