Fantastic Productivity Tool

  • September 04, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity / Ease of User
Interface
Drag & Drop
Reporting
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much - wish it had a time tracking system so it could replace another tool
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business problem solved was accurate resource calendaring.
Previous tool made it a challenge to get an accurate picture of what resources had availability.
Float gives me a quick and easy way to manage and assign resources to projects. I can report on activities, track billable activities and how available my resources are.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Simple but effective tool offering a quick view on resource availability with the ability to make real time updates.

Works great for most of what we do - wish they would add some functionality

What do you like best about the product?
I love that it integrates with your project budget. It shows you how much you're over or under your projected target given how many hours you put into float. It's clean and looks great and is fairly easy to read (unless you zoom out and you project title gets truncated). It's easy to add and modify tasks and setup is fairy self-explanatory minus a few quirks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate that you can't lock items into place and that when you move items around they don't automatically push out the schedule. I get that the method used here works for a lot of situations, but it'd be nice to add in some functionality. Right now, youre budget isn't the constraint. You can move hours around willy nilly and that number fluctuates. I'd like to see an option where you set your budgeted hours and the program rigidly holds to that, pushing the schedule out as needed to accommodate. And I like that you can see your budgeted hours as a percentage but the functionality is super light with regards to accuracy. We update our Float schedule every week and it's a pain to get accurate numbers given the "hours per day" model. If you end up spending 11.5 hours in a week on one project or task, you have to put them all in a single day to be accurate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest asset we've realized using Float is when our projects are over or under staffed (based on a contract # of hours model). If you accurately put in the number of hours you have, and then estimate how many hours per week your staff will spend through the end of the project, it spits out a percentage over or under your budget which is super helpful.

What do you like best about the product?
It's nice seeing what capacity is available for scheduling projects and seeing what coworkers schedule looks like.
What do you dislike about the product?
No times assigned to work segments. You can only see how long a segment is but not what time that is planned to be worked on
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving issues with scheduling as we grow.

What do you like best about the product?
Float helped our team become extra organised as we all knew where we could find skilled personnel at the click of a button
What do you dislike about the product?
I had no issues with float other than when I used it on my phone the clarity ie days/dates were slightly misaligned, but I think that was probably because I was using an iPhone
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Personnel problems are solved easily, even simple things like accessing when staff are on leave before tackling a project is extremely helpful
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended due to the ease of use

Float Review

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that I can easily create my to-do list, save paper and now have a more visual experience because I can really see what my day looks like. I also like that my colleagues can see what's on my radar and we can work together accordingly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that tasks are limited to lengths of .25, .5, or 1 etc when not allocating a specific time during the day. I would much prefer being able to input X minutes for a task instead of being limited to fractions of hours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have become much more time-efficient and driven to tick off tasks on my to-do list. I would definitely recommend Float to others.

Float Review

What do you like best about the product?
The visuals that allows us to see the team and what they are assigned and also the reporting. Also quite like the fact that new features are being added that are enhancing the tool as an over project management tool
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't a issues register that we can keep for the all the projects running and monitor change requests, etc. Also often when we update team members float does not make the changes until you have refreshed it a couple of times and re-entered the data
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Utilization of staff members is important and float allows us to track them - trying to solve the problem
Reporting is the main benefit

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to view department's schedule to have transparancy between individuals and able to schedule own time round others. Being able to book time-off and able to reflect that on float is very convenient, as no further work can be scheduled on that day and it does not interfere with the rest of the scheduling.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not able to change times on float if not using a computer. When using a tablet/ mobile device, it is much more difficult to adjust the times of projects than when using a computer as it is very easy to adjsut the times incorrectly either by the length in a day or by how many days total.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to view different department's schedule allows us to plan our work more effectively for when certain apparatus are available when in use by other colleagues. If a project required multiple members of the department to work on them, having float allows all individuals to know when the other is working on a particular project which directly affects them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Worth the cost as the scheduling of time is much more easier to use with float.

Cost effective resourcing tool

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and navigate with a lot of additional add-on features one would expect from an expensive tool
What do you dislike about the product?
Possibly free integration into JIRA or have task management capability. Better financial management would also be highly beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Resource utilisation and priorities management of key persons
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great inexpensive tool to manage small teams and have a dashboard view of projects
