Intuitive and infinitely helpful software, let down by occasional performance issues and with room
What do you like best about the product?
Float is an incredibly intuitive piece of software to use, with a simple calendar-like interface that everyone can understand. I have found that this aspect of the software is helpful in promoting its adoption within our teams. The experience is consistent across the product, which has allowed me to discover more and more features in and enrich the experience of using the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
The performance of the software is occasionally a bit lacklustre. For example, I often find myself accidentally clicking somewhere on the screen which prompts a dialogue box to open to enter a new task. This problem is especially pronounced when using a trackpad, and isn’t something that I experience elsewhere. Additionally, the interface seems to have a strange way of ‘splitting’ tasks that occur across multiple days. I have found that it often leaves blank gaps that give the illusion that a team member is working more hours per day than they actually are.
There are a few features that I would like to see when going forward. Firstly, I think it would be good if there were different options when ‘resizing’ a task. Currently, the task can be resized independently across both axes (i.e. how many hours per day, and across how many days). I think it would be good if there were an option for these to affect each other – i.e. the total number of hours allocated to the project remains the same and could be allocated fewer hours across more days, or more hours across fewer days.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My experience so far with Float has been one of trying to make it reflect reality, and encourage adoption within our organisation. I think the real advantage of using it will be one project managers are widely aware of its benefits, and proactively use it to resource projects and keep abreast of changes in the availability of our team.
Resource planning in big picture
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is. To book resource or edit time range you only need a few clicks or drag and drop.
What do you dislike about the product?
It will be nice to get notifications about not booked time of some resource and small tool for moving all booked resources for a given project in time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Float is great tool that helps us in three ways:
1. Planning resources in the near future - thanks to this we can easily know what specialist and when will have free time for some short maintenance or start new project.
2. Planning time off office days
3. Get statistics about how much time was spend in which project in wide perspective and quickly check who and when was working on what milestone off the project for client reports.

Clean and easy
What do you like best about the product?
Simple and clean overview of resource planning. Easy to adjust and play with.
What do you dislike about the product?
Seems a bit slow when including lots of resources. Once detailed analyses is needed (e.g. budget allocation on subparts of projects) it seems to be limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easier overview of resource planning

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to review your teams work load and you are able to drag/drop assignments to other teammates, as needed. I love that you can use any HEX color codes for clients/projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Often it will split tasks that I don't want split. Also, I wish there was an easier way to assign multiple team members to one assignment/task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This helps us know what projects need to be shifted to what employees and also helps us recognize when we may be close to workload capacity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great project management tool!
Quick and easy scheduling
What do you like best about the product?
The phone app makes it easy to view my weekly schedule. My supervisor is able to quickly assign projects after having created them. The customer support has been incredibly helpful to my supervisor when dealing with specific features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of personalization on the phone app, such as notification settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The scheduling for our division was very confusing and inconsistent. I would have to ask daily for my schedule. Now i know exactly what i will be doing every day at the start of the week!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It will take a little bit of time to set up roles and projects, but once you do it will save you a lot of time.
Smooth and Easy

Quick, simple and easy
What do you like best about the product?
Float makes it easy for me to see what I'm scheduled to do at a glance
What do you dislike about the product?
When entering in Time Off, it's not as obvious as it could be that you need to switch tabs to complete the entry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Float has prevented the constant questions from various parts of the business as to my availability for upcoming projects allowing me to focus more completely on the task at hand.
Great scheduling alternative
What do you like best about the product?
Float's multiple views made it much easier to see which team members were being booked on overlapping jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like it could use a master/birds' eye view to see projects and team members on the same page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Much more accurate views for recording team members' billable hours by project. Our scheduling calendar was not efficient for that.
Works well
What do you like best about the product?
I find it very intuitive to use and it helps the team stay organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to be able to see my colleagues' schedules, but I imagine that's just a permissions setting. There's nothing I dislike about the features that I use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Float has allowed for real-time updates from my manager and with my colleagues that allow us to keep all the parts moving in a complex, long-term project.
