Extremely scalable, reliable, and efficient
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
I appreciate Rubrik because it stands out compared to other products. One key advantage is its native security features, eliminating the need for third-party tools. This means we don't have to constantly rely on external support for security posture, scanning, or capacity management. With everything built-in, we avoid potential vulnerabilities from third-party patches, making our solution more secure and self-contained.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of Rubrik for me is its user-friendliness and efficiency. While other products may have similar security and scanning features, Rubrik's dashboard simplifies access and retrieval of information. Unlike some alternatives, it allows me to quickly find what I need, saving time and making my workflow more focused and manageable.
What needs improvement?
Rubrik could improve in customization options for dashboards. The current lack of flexibility forces a standardized approach, which may not suit every environment. Unlike some competitors, like Commvault, Rubrik's dashboards are not easily customizable. Additionally, more detailed logs and reports would be beneficial, as well as a streamlined support process to reduce the dependency on opening multiple tickets for various issues. One feature I'd like to see added to Rubrik is the ability to manage multiple resources for databases more efficiently. Currently, it is a manual process, going one by one. Also, enhancing the management of SLA domains, especially when dealing with multiple domains, would be beneficial. It is challenging to run group-specific reports, and improvements in this area would enhance usability.

I have been working with Rubrik for over a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability of Rubrik as a seven out of ten. In my experience, the stability is solid, and the fact that it is hyper-converged, and integrated with hardware, gives it an edge. However, like many products, it does depend on specific use cases and configurations.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
While I haven't personally added more nodes yet, based on documentation and feedback from others, the scalability seems virtually unlimited. Adding more storage is seamless and non-destructive.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support is generally good. While their knowledge is good, I find there is a bit too much dependency on support for every issue. As a backup engineer, I prefer having more autonomy in problem-solving without needing support for every case.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others is that for smaller environments, Rubrik is a good choice, but for larger enterprises, thorough evaluation is essential. It may lack some management capabilities for extensive setups. Additionally, check compatibility with legacy servers, as Rubrik may not support them, unlike some other products that do. Overall, I would rate Rubrik as a seven out of ten.

Some features are missing which are found in other vendors, such as during a file level restore being able to identify what files are missing since previous backups.

Rubrik manaages our backups primarily but has the added benefit around data security
Rock Solid Product. Super simple to use
What do you like best about the product?
First off, it's user-friendly. You don't need a tech wizard degree to navigate it. Also, it's pretty versatile – handles backups, recovery, and even cloud stuff smoothly. Saves time too, with automation doing its thing.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside can be the price tag; With new product acquisitions and licensing it can get a big confusing on which features are included with your purchase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Direct backups of all our servers and archiving them to the cloud storage.

Very easy to use. You don't need to learn more CLI. Everything is userfriendly.
Customer support is very friendly and knowledgable, ther are available 24/7 to walk you through any kind of tasks.

How Rubrik Transformed our Data Protection
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, variety of supported technologies and excellent support.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much, but if had to pick one, is how RCV is based in the same Azure region as where the orignal data is present. Missing cross-region replication.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Back ups and ransomware. Peace of mind that data is being backed up in a cloud location. And data is being checked of any anomalies or changes which might be milliesious.
Excellent product, support and team to protect us
What do you like best about the product?
Rubrik continues to add features not just for backup but security, taking advantage of the metadata it has access to. Their team and support is very responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their built-in reporting is decent but needs more regular improvements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rubrik is protecting an ever growing number of our applications. We protect multiple types of databases and hypervisors. It's allowing us to move off of old systems and protect new types as well.

Easy of use of the patform, both on-prem and in the cloud.
Support is Excellent, sometimes they are already solving a problem befor i can rasie it with them.
Ease of intergration - lots of ways of automat the work that user normaly need to do, theres a powershell moudel, python and more. if there is not one for you you can use the API playgound to test what you need then use rest API calls to get it all working.

Cost - the system is not cheap (or atleaset our setup is not).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backups for diffrent items e.g sql databases, Vm backups, phyical backups all in one place and one solution. dont need to manage 20 diffrent backup systems/servers.
Rubrik, a great data protection solution all around
What do you like best about the product?
Rubrik is a great data protection solution for medium to large enterprises. We chose and installed 2 clusters at the primary & failover datacenter a few years ago, mainly for their quick backup/restore capability, immutability, API access to Hypervisor (not SMB), forever incremental backups, instant recovery, CDP, site to site replication and ability to archive to NFS storage at no extra cost. Not only Rubrik has met our expectations in these areas but also came out with new features such as Threat hunts, anomaly detection and sensitive data detection. They continue to grow the ecosystem to better protect customer's environment. Rubrik also communicates with the customer's well for support needs and feedbacks. I recently had a call with their team about their upcoming new feature and provided feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
Rubrik is not cheap but not too expensive compared to other comparable solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rubrik is able to protect our data with 7-year data retention requirement via NFS archiving which our previous backup solution couldn't do. Ransomware investigation and Sensitive data detection are features we did not have but much needed to prepare against malware attacks and data exfiltration events.
