An efficient, reliable, and easy-to-manage solution that goes very granular in blocking some features in third-party cloud solutions

  • December 20, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

Netskope is an efficient, reliable, and easy-to-manage solution. It goes very granular in blocking some of the features in third-party cloud solutions, like share or download.

What needs improvement?

Netskope could further onboard new SaaS-based platforms into their CASB solutions. Netskope already has its in-build capabilities, but some might be missing.

From the reverse proxy side, Netskope needs to be more reliable for Microsoft Azure customers. They are still dependent on Microsoft access control from SaaS. It would be good if they could remove this dependency because some customers don't have P1 licenses.

We need Microsoft capabilities to access reverse proxies because it depends on that. Users logging in to their SaaS solution and not using the Netskope agent cannot use this reverse proxy feature. The solution's documentation still needs to be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Netskope for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Netskope a nine out of ten for stability.

How are customer service and support?

Netskope should improve its customer support in terms of technicality and response time.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s initial setup is quick and easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Netskope is not as expensive as Palo Alto. On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

We usually sell Netskope because it's a unified platform for SWG, DLP capabilities, and CASB. Netskope is a strong leader in CASB and has integrated other parts like SWG and NPA. Netskope is a cloud-based solution.

Netskope is a very granular product, and you can do a lot of things with it. Microsoft doesn't onboard all the third-party SaaS-based providers. It doesn't have any granularity to build policies.

Netskope is more suitable for small to medium businesses.

Overall, I rate Netskope an eight out of ten.

Netskope is a scalable product. My company's 30 percent of the workforce is using the product.

How are customer service and support?

The tool's technical support is good. They have premium support options and will reach back very quickly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company used Netskope because it is user-friendly and has seamless deployment. It has its own cloud and is not reliant on other private cloud providers like AWS.

How was the initial setup?

A new user will encounter moderate difficulty while deploying the solution. Deployment is easy for a person with a networking background.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool's pricing is not too cheap or expensive. However, it can be costly for a small business.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Netskope an eight out of ten.

Effective for managing shadow IT and provides continuous data protection for users connected to the internet

  • August 18, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Our one use case involved shadow IT. We had numerous cloud applications being used by the business without the IT team's awareness. A lot of data was being exchanged with these cloud applications.

Another use case centered around our corporate applications, specifically Google Workspace. We integrated Google Workspace with Netskope to protect our cloud usage and data, including email IDs and Google Drive storage.

These are the use cases we applied the tools to.

How has it helped my organization?

The benefits revolved around effectively addressing the use cases using Netskope. Regardless of user location, as long as they were connected to the internet, their data remained protected at all times. These were the major benefits we obtained.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features were related to discovery, data protection, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

For how long have I used the solution?

In my previous organization, we heavily used Netskope. We employed Netskope for all our cloud applications and for managing shadow IT. So, for any applications we had in the cloud, we used Netskope to retrieve details about shadow IT. On top of it, we employed it to safeguard the data on those cloud applications.

I used Netskope five months ago. I changed organizations around five months ago. But prior to that, I was using Netskope. I have used it for approximately four years. I worked with the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. From a solution perspective, I didn't face any challenges. However, there were operational matters that we managed on a day-to-day basis.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

Approximately around 30,000 end users are using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

We've encountered numerous cases. Whenever we came across functional or technical issues, we raised questions with the technical support team.

I would describe customer service and support as decent. Our technical account manager always got involved when we raised concerns, ensuring proper escalation so we got a timely resolution.

How was the initial setup?

The first setup process was pretty simple. You just have to integrate the solution with cloud workspaces and applications and it is easily accomplished.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment was a collaborative effort. We engaged both the vendor and third-party assistance. Our in-house team used relevant intelligence to ensure successful deployment.

Two major teams were primarily involved: the InfoSec team and the IT team. The InfoSec team covered the solution and helped the IT team with configuring best practices. Additionally, we had a partner team that implemented the solution for us.

For deployment, we followed a straightforward approach. First, we identified our known applications and domains and then planned how to integrate our account users with Netskope. Next, we used the discovery module to identify shadow IT instances. Finally, we configured policies, initially placing them in monitoring mode. Once the tools matured, we transitioned those policies from monitoring to protective mode.

The maintenance was easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing depends on customer relationships, negotiations, and partner involvement. Each product owner has their own licensing terms, which all play into the overall cost because they involve a partner. Overall, it depends on the negotiation skills.

Netskope's pricing is reasonable compared to Microsoft. Microsoft tends to sell individual licenses as bundles. For instance, if you're using licenses like E3 versus E5, E3 offers limited functionality, while E5 provides a bundle. Microsoft's pricing is somewhat higher, considering Netskope's capabilities as well.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have experience with a few other solutions, like Symantec and Microsoft, but my involvement with those was limited. Netskope was the major focus.

If you're heavily invested in Microsoft, Microsoft KSP might be the way to go. Otherwise, you might consider Netskope. So, it is dependent on the infrastructure.

What other advice do I have?

I'd suggest that any company not heavily dependent on Microsoft could consider starting with Netskope. Cloud journey also matters; if you're deeply involved in the cloud, Netskope is a good solution to safeguard your cloud data.

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. I deduced two points: one for their feature modification and one for the feature maturity of the solution.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Scalable platform with an easy deployment process

  • July 25, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the product for cloud application access.

What needs improvement?

The product's integration with VMware Workspace ONE could be improved. Additionally, they could add endpoint security features similar to Trend Micro.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the platform for 18 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the platform's stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a very scalable tool.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support team takes too long to reply for different time zones. We have to give them all the information from the beginning per their protocol every time.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

It is a SaaS-based solution and is deployed on the cloud. It is very fast to deploy. We took three months to complete as we had to make many changes to the previous version. I rate the process a seven out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product's price is average. We are receiving a competitive offer from Trend Micro Apex One. So, we are evaluating it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We are evaluating Trend Micro Apex One.

What other advice do I have?

I advise others to make an inventory of all the cloud apps. They should ensure all the shadow IT instances are included in their policies.

I rate the platform an eight out of ten.

Netskope Review

  • July 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Netskope Private Access provides only authenticated users to access the application and it only allows those users whose access has been provided. It provides fast and secure access to the application, whereas a VPN allows users to connect to the whole network once the VPN is connected.
What do you dislike about the product?
Publisher upgrade should be pre intimidated.
NPA user interface can be more simplified.
Backend changes should be notified.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enables remote users to connect the on premise or cloud hosted application.
It overcomes the drawbacks of VPN.
It only allows the genuine user to access the application.

Netskope beyond traditional VPNs

  • June 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Netskope solution for secure VPN connection with enhanced security and zero trust network access was the key highlights. ZTNA helped us to securely connect with our application gateways. It also helped us to optimise and manage all accesses.
What do you dislike about the product?
We faced some hard time to replace the legacy remote access where we were not able to migrate on cloud infrastructure.
At times we required network centric visibility or analysis which was not so easy to adopt here, however application based monitoring was amazing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped us to establish zero trust network access for our cloud infrastructure application. It also helped to protect from malicious attack and from compromised accounts.
Connection to public cloud for enterprise services was another key highlights for us.

leaked credentials information provided by them is not accurate, even after raising it multiple times, it's not sorted.

Great interface with some flaws in the mechanics

  • May 24, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Netskope is one of the leaders in the world of CASB solutions. Their support is responsive, quick, and knowledgeable. With Netskope, we can define very granular policies for zero-trust access. It is easy to hide the Netskope client from users and make the service transparent. Collecting logs for troubleshooting is also super easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Netskope has experienced bugs and glitches when a new operating system update is rolled out. Quite recently with the macOS Big Sur upgrade and the M1 chip devices, we've had quite a few issues. Their development team is working hard to catch up and make the tool compatible with these updates. Although collecting logs is easy, only the Netskope team can review and investigate the log bundle as it requires special tooling. Another gripe with Netskope is the lack of publicly available documentation and configuration guides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a company that has embraced the cloud and most of our staff is working from home. We have replaced the traditional VPN with Netskope and we're better able to assign access to certain applications for users. Netskope is also providing a great deal of monitoring information that gives insights into how our traffic is taking shape.
