Sisense Periscope
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Sisense Periscope since 2018 and we are very happy with the product. It empowers anyone in the company with SQL knowledge to create dashboards and share them with others. This tool is really the fastest way from data to insights when you are prototyping or exploring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once you reach a certain level of complexity with your dashboards you will hit limits either in terms of performance or dashboard usability. In these cases it's better to move to more advance data tools that allows to better slice and dice the data. Still we are very happy to keep Sisense Periscope for the initial exploratory phase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sisense Periscope helps solve the problem of quickly creating a dashboard from a relational database or flat files to share with others.
Its the best tool for an analyst/engineer but not as visually appealing for the end-user.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability of an analyst to have complete control of dashboards and make code changes within the Sisense environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The visualizations provided standard are not as impressive (in the version we used) and could do with an update.

Robust Features with Some Scalability Hurdles
What do you like best about the product?
The strong suit of Sisense lies in its comprehensive approach to data integration and analysis. The ease with which it handles data from various sources and the simplicity of its dashboard creation tools are commendable. Visualizing data is a breeze, and the drag-and-drop functionality is a boon for creating detailed reports quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, the platform isn't without its issues. The primary concern arises when the system is scaled. For a SaaS offering, one anticipates seamless scalability and robust backend support to manage increasing data loads. Unfortunately, Sisense seems to struggle with resource management during high-demand periods. As the complexity and volume of queries grow, performance can degrade, contradicting the expected reliability of a cloud-based service. This has been a significant drawback, especially when quick data processing is essential for business operations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The platform has been instrumental in transforming our data visualization practices.
Great for quick access dashboarding, Short on Deep Level Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the ease at which we can develop new dashboards to bring some visualizations to our users rapidly. The interface is intuitive and easy to customize. You can easily imbed your queries and stored procedures which drive your result sets and then easily integrated those into a handful of charts.
The sharing of dashboards to users is simple and makes extending the visualizations to a wide variety of recipients very easy.

What do you dislike about the product?
Overall the tool lacks robustness with respect to driving interactive analytics. There is no capability of importing data models into the platform which limits the functionality to indepenedent data sets and no real multi-dimensional analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's best suited in allowing us to identify trends and using some of the conditional formating capabilities, allows us to generate easy to interpret dashboards to quickly give us easily identifiable indicators.
Review of Sisense from Administrator POV
What do you like best about the product?
Sisense has been able to support our customer needs. From basic dashboards, to more robust reporting needs. It has been well received Analytics tool
What do you dislike about the product?
Sisense could add value with more learning for our customers to have them become self-sufficient in some easy design processes. Adding fields to tables, running reports and exporting to csv, etc
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Welkin for our customer Analytics solutions
I have consistently enjoyed and advocated for Sisense amongst my peers.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the SQL and Python integration rather than a bespoke querying language. Customer Support is top not as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of customization within the canned visual set can be challenging. Lack of settings related to case sensitivity is also a mior nit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary value is speed to delivery. I build many bespoke visualizations for short term goals.
Fantastic Tool for Building Data Products
What do you like best about the product?
Sisense really empowers me to build the kinds of data products and visualizations that I am imagining no matter what kind of data we're working with. I really love that the possibility to build what you're envisioning is always there regardless of what you're thinking of.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing I makorly dislike but I will say that there can be a bit of a learning curve to really getting the hang of Sisense's more advanced features. The bright side is once you understand the advanced features, you feel really good about being able to build whatever you want to support your vision though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, the main business problem that Sisense is helping me solve is how to build data products that allow users to interact with our data and get the insights they need without having to learn how to code and become a data scientists themselves which benefits me by allowing me to automate these processes and move on to other projects
Wouldn't choose it again
What do you like best about the product?
Sisense is serviceable. They have some basic widgets and normal reporting capabilities. They listen to us and seem to want to improve.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a ton of limitations, they're always breaking things with updates, rarely fixing what we need them to. They seem to have trouble with multi-tenancy for embedded analytics. The interface is unattractive and hard to customize. They are poor at translations. They have a very limited library of visualizations. They really are a minor league player. I inherited them. Starting to get to the point where it'll be worth the trouble to tear them out and start over.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They serve as the platform for our embedded analytics solutions. We also have some internal users relying on the same data.
Gets the job done
What do you like best about the product?
I like that their contracts include unlimited users for viewing the dashboards. This allows us flexibility with granting our clients access because we do not have to limit the number of licenses we give to clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our Customer Success Rep (we have had many so not one in particular) always try to sell to us. They do not help with actual issues or enhancements that we have access to so we did not find the meetings useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to track quoting usage on our platform.
