Has improved monitoring and analytics while requiring more virtual deployment options

  • November 20, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Fortinet FortiManager is primarily used in the government, education, and oil and gas sectors.

What is most valuable?

Fortinet FortiManager includes important monitoring, analytics, and AIOps technology with a license.

I have utilized the centralized policy management with Fortinet FortiManager. The centralized policy management helps with the creation of policies because it is easy to monitor and facilitates installation.

I use Fortinet FortiManager's automation features for monitoring, which is very important for company use.

The benefits I see from using Fortinet FortiManager are very important for the company because it uses tools for monitoring, for EI, and for predictive faults.

The logging and reporting capabilities of Fortinet FortiManager are very important because they are for utilization, for dashboards, and for reports for clients.

What needs improvement?

Fortinet FortiManager can improve, but there is not much to mention. The improvements are very few, mostly in the production area. It would be nice to have a virtual appliance as well.

How are customer service and support?

Fortinet support is very good, and I rate it on a scale of one to ten. The support is very complete, the people are very good, and they are very attentive. I would score their support a ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used a different solution before Fortinet FortiManager. The experience with Fortinet FortiManager is very different with respect to Cisco because Fortinet has a very advanced developer in security and is recognized as a Gartner leader in security, making it better than Cisco.

What other advice do I have?

I have experience with Fortinet FortiManager. Fortinet FortiManager is very well-known to me.

I have experience with Fortinet FortiManager, particularly in architecture and design, not technical, and I think it is a good solution.

I use Fortinet FortiManager along with AWS and Azure as cloud providers.

My thoughts on the pricing of Fortinet FortiManager are that the calling is the...

We purchased Fortinet FortiManager through two forms: the FortiManager appliance, which consists of physical servers, and we also bought it in the AWS Marketplace and other areas.

My overall rating for Fortinet FortiManager is seven.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Centralized management has improved policy deployment but setup requires more simplification

  • November 06, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My experience with Fortinet products is primarily with Fortinet FortiManager. I have attended training on FortiSandbox and FortiWeb as well.

Fortinet solutions are used by my clients across every sector.

They are also used in the healthcare sector for financial purposes.

What is most valuable?

Fortinet FortiManager can centrally manage all FortiGates and is effective for the deployment of updates and patches.

We use centralized policy management for policy management.

It helps streamline policy creation and policy enforcement. However, I would prefer to have an online meeting so I can see who I am talking to, as you are obtaining information about my security. I am aware that there are currently many spam and social engineering attacks occurring.

What needs improvement?

I do not use Fortinet FortiManager daily, but I can speak with my security team and ask them what areas need future improvement for Fortinet FortiManager.

When I installed it, I found it somewhat difficult to set up.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate their support at between eight and nine, which I consider great support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What other advice do I have?

I still have experience with ESET and Fortinet products. My other colleague has more in-depth experience with Fortinet FortiManager and uses it more daily in that particular area, as I do not use it as regularly and my other colleagues are more involved in that area.

I am not certain if my clients purchase Fortinet FortiManager through the AWS Marketplace.

I want to remain anonymous for now.

My overall rating for Fortinet FortiManager is seven.

Manage multiple devices with ease but experience complexity in deployment and limited AI features

  • April 18, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Fortinet FortiManager to manage multiple devices in a single location. Although it does not provide a security posture itself, it depends on the firewall policies and settings in their respective firewalls. Fortinet FortiManager is primarily meant for the management of devices.

What is most valuable?

Fortinet FortiManager manages multiple devices in a single location and can identify vulnerabilities. If it could create and send automated policies for any vulnerabilities to all devices, that would be ideal. I recommend integrating more AI features to enhance the reliability of the product.

What needs improvement?

The deployment of Fortinet FortiManager is quite complex and should be easier. It requires improvement in vulnerability management and should integrate automated AI features to enhance its reliability. The AI features are very limited, and there is room for adding more.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Fortinet FortiManager for about ten years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There are some issues when it comes to different firewall models with different firmware versions. Fortinet FortiManager can manage only a certain number of firmware versions at a time, which complicates deployment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate the stability of Fortinet FortiManager as a seven.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate Fortinet FortiManager's scalability as a six out of ten, indicating it could be more scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I find Fortinet's technical support for FortiManager effective and I would rate it eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

For the cloud version, you just have to register the license, then it prepares the appliance. After that, you just add the devices by their IPs. For the on-premises version, you have to check the firmware versions and perform necessary updates.

What about the implementation team?

One person can deploy Fortinet FortiManager, taking approximately fifteen to thirty minutes. Sometimes it takes even less time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I find Fortinet FortiManager to be a bit more expensive, especially when considering the environment. It shows cost-effectiveness when managing more than ten devices, whereas it is less effective with fewer devices. I rated pricing as six out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Fortinet FortiManager for those managing more than ten devices. Overall, I would rate Fortinet FortiManager as a seven out of ten. Also, there is no need for maintenance after the deployment.

Centralized management boosts security while improvements needed in interface and integration

  • January 13, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Our solution centralizes all the firewalls in different regions or data centers into one location. We manage policy distribution between various regions by creating policies and deploying them according to the device location where the policy is needed.

We also distribute certificates remotely for managers. Our solution primarily works with FortiGate firewalls without integrating with third-party products.

What is most valuable?

The centralized management of policies and certificates, coupled with the capability to handle multi-site deployments effectively, provides streamlined operations.

Centralized visibility enhances security management, offering unified management across regions such as India, Singapore, and Australia. FortiManager captures all devices and provides reports for security analysis.

We consider the pricing reasonable as it reduces operational costs and boosts security efficiency.

What needs improvement?

The graphical user interface could use improvement as it appears complex and not user-friendly. Better integration of Fortinet ADC into FortiManager would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been working with FortiManager for more than five to ten years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Palo Alto Panorama is difficult to configure compared to FortiManager, which is more feasible and easier to manage.

How was the initial setup?

Initially, the deployment takes some time, but it is easy to accomplish. Some challenges we encountered include the NTP server, certificate management, and port openings across regions.

What about the implementation team?

We initially deploy our own NTP server. If that does not work, we resort to manual timing settings.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing is reasonable and does not pose challenges.

What other advice do I have?

FortiManager is more user-friendly compared to Palo Alto Panorama. It is suitable for small-scale and easy management.

I would rate the overall solution between seven out of ten. Better integration of other Fortinet products like ADC into FortiManager would be beneficial.
