A reliable tool for logs and dashboards

  • May 31, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The tool helped us to aggregate logs for several microservices and make dashboards to help us to monitor the application.

How has it helped my organization?

Aggregating events happening simultaneously among several microservices, since we can aggregate the logs into a single repository of data

What is most valuable?

The tool is simple to setup where it is just plug and play. The tool is reliable and we never had any performance issues.

What needs improvement?

The solution needs to improve its data retention. It should be greater than seven days, but this may be a contract issue. The product needs to improve its documentation as well, since it is vage in some parts.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the product for six to eight months. (Year: 2022)

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have never experienced any bugs or instability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. Our engineering team uses the product which can be around 70 people.

How are customer service and support?

We didn't have any problems and hence haven't contacted the support yet.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product's pricing is cheaper than other solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product an eight out of ten. The tool is only for logs and dashboards. However, it is not recommended for resource monitoring.

Helps to track the dev environment

  • May 01, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the tool to track the dev and production environment.

What needs improvement?

The product needs improvement from a filtering perspective.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product was stable until we reached a certain limit which was around 10-20 GB.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My company had 50 users for the product. We had used three to four microservices and we didn't experience any lag.

How was the initial setup?

The product's setup is straightforward if you know the documentation. A senior developer helped us with the tool's setup. We had integrated the old framework and hence had to go through the documentation.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product a seven out of ten. The product's setup is pretty cool and easy. From the developer's perspective, the logs are good. There is plenty of documentation available on how to use it and check logs.

Amazing product for service logs

  • April 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is an observability tool which provides security and is also open source. It has so many metrics and also AI/ML tools which help filter the logs and provides insights and exceptions as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Logz.io has limited number of logs which can be processed in a day. To avoid we need to purchase a plan which is a bit costly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Logz.io is an observability tool which helps and monitoring and managing the cost as well. It instantly reports as soon as server errors are found. We can set metrics for reporting as well.

An excellent tool for displaying, analyzing and managing alerts over logs.

  • October 25, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use various meta-fields for filtering logs (e.g., the service printing the log, log level, time frame, context, etc.). In addition, a very useful feature is to define alerts with Slack integartion. For example, trigger an alert to a dedicated Slack channel in case a log message matching some pattern appears.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find working with regular expressions not clear. However, I might not be that familiar with the regex syntax.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem they're trying to solve is to display, monitor and analyze system logs with a simple and efficient UI, including integration with other tools (e.g., Slack and tracing tools such as Jaeger). It is benefiting me because as a software developer, I need an automatic tool to alert me when error or warning logs appear so immediate action can take place. Other use cases are searching for logs when there is a need to investigate a bug.

Great tool

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes the task easier for us to track any issue/ check any information using logs in there. Moreover you could integrate it with most of the other tools you would be using for notification etc to make the task easier
What do you dislike about the product?
Eveything seems good to me. Nothing I think that I could add as a dislike for logz.io, though the suggestion would be to keep doing the good job you have been doing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrating with other tools for notifications and monitoring is quite more straightforward with it.
Moreover, searching logs becomes very easy for us using logz.io, which otherwise is a hassle

Support for Metrics from Windows Containers in AKS

  • January 28, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A huge shout out to the team at Logz.io for making this happen ... shipping metrics from Windows containers running on AKS. Yes, I said Windows containers!!! So, if you have both Linux and Windows workloads, you get cpu, ram and network io visibility in Logz.io. Outstanding!

Previous to this, they made it possible to surface logs from Windows containers too by shipping logs from the Windows Nodes negating the need for sidecars, logging agents or pushing directly from your apps.

If you want your ELK stack as a managed service (reducing the cost of in-house dedicated infra as well as removing the maintenance overhead, freeing up Engineers' time to focus on your core business) with a level of support which will simply blow your mind, then reach out to Logz.io.
