Blazingly Fast and You Can't Beat the Price

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For starters, since MySQL is open source, the price just can't be beat. On top of that, it's relatively easy to set up and the speed is incredible. It can be managed from a wide variety of tools and there is a huge amount of shared knowledge out there about it (books, articles, websites, forums, etc.). Lastly, it offers a wide range of possibilities for configurations, table types, and text encodings - very customizable all the way around.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup is *relatively* easy, but for a database novice, or even a newcomer to the command line, it can be intimidating, since MySQL is so incredibly customizable and flexible. Thankfully most Linux distributions have a graphical way to install it these days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL powers our website and intranet. The frontend is WordPress, but we do a ton of custom database stuff in the backend, especially syncing data from other sources into MySQL for use in our intranet (for example, student data pulled from a CSV and brought into MySQL for custom reporting jobs).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need MySQL, you need MySQL. Go for it. It's not as intimidating as it seems. Grab a book on MySQL or hit StackOverflow. You'll have it in no time!

MySQL has been a great all purpose database tech that is secure, reliable, fast and free.

  • January 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that from a value perspective, you can't get any better than an industry tried and true database tech. MySQL has grown and so has the various flavors like MariaDB, Percona, Aurora, and perhaps more. The community is great for support, and you can get support plans from numerous providers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. Usually when I come up with a con, I can switch the deployment strategy and come up with viable work arounds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost effective management of data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Recommend implementing in AWS RDS as Aurora

MySql, a great relational database application, as always

  • January 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Open Source, what can i say. For an open source tool, it has tons of development and is well tested
What do you dislike about the product?
open source... sometimes there can be a lag in development time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
database elements, business management
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As with any open source tool, there are benefits and detractors. I advise weighing the positive and negative carefully, but it works great at its core.

Performance plus free

  • January 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Who can beat this? A database app that is robust, feature-full, reliable, easy to learn, compete well with paid counterparts, seamlessly works with lots of programming languages, works on several IT platforms, and on top of all these good stuff, it is FREE. Yes, it is free!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike; it is very easy to slice and dice this application to one's need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saves my company fund we would have spent on paid database app; that is a chunk staying put in the bottom line.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it! You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.

Open Source Gold!

  • January 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is powerful, efficient and most importantly open source. When you consider the fact that phpMyAdmin is also open source, it's hard to find a better alternative to database administration. Easy to set up and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not really anything I would change about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use MySQL for a wide array of projects, including but not limited to provider/patient/clinic management, a news application, discussion boards, etc...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great startup option being that the product is open source

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used as data stores for various web apps

  • January 14, 2019

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data backend for all web services.

Being a Back End developer I use MySQL most of the time to keep my web projects databases in well organised relational tables. The best thing about MySQL is it's exceptional ability of relating tables with each other. As per my consideration MySQL is still getting used for most of the applications running in this real world.

2. The commands are easy to learn and implement in any development environment.
3. The integration of MySQL with any programming language is easy.

1. Use MySQL for better reliability on relational databases.
2. Implementation and integration of MySQL servers into any development environment is easy.
3. No there are also many tools to represent database tables in GUI so working with MySQL has become more easy, is you are not a command type person.
4. Learning and understanding the commands are easy.
5. It's open source and free if you are not using any support and maintenance subscriptions.
6. If you are student and learning development languages, you must use MySQL server as it's easy, free, good community and better integration into any developing environment.
