Open Source Stable Database Management System.
What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is open source, free, stable database management system which can be used in production applications. It is a light weight database which can be installed and used on production application servers with big multi-tier applications as well as on a desktop by developers. It can be installed on all platforms like Windows, Linux and Mac. It is secure and is not vulnerable to any security vulnerabilities
What do you dislike about the product?
One issue which I dislike is that there is not a good client application or SQL editor to connect to the database server, like toad which is used for oracle, though it is available for MariaDB which is also a version of MySQL. I am not very happy with Oracle acquiring MySQL as well, as I would like it to remain free and open source.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used mysql is developing web applications for BioInformatics projects which are applications used for cancer research. These are production ready applications accessed by users through the internet around the world. The database is used with application development done using Java-J2EE technologies and it is very stable and secure product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would definitely recommend the product to others, it is open source, free and very stable to be used with large applications on production level. It can be coupled with any technologies using ODBC-JDBC bridge and has good support for the drivers and installation.

No Site Without MySQL
What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is something I use for every website I think I've really ever made. You need it for the databases you'll host and it's super secure and pretty much hand in hand with PHP which provides extra methods to avoid MySQL injections. They have released tools such as the MySQLI Workbench meaning you can remote into your database from your computer at anytime. It makes such quick work with their simple to use layout and UI. I've never used anything but MySQL/MySQLI and I don't think I'll ever use anything different.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times you could have simple setup issues but, it's not super hard to fix. Of course they aren't fully secure simple coding mistakes could leave your database open to easy MySQL attacks meaning that people could get into your database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We now have a place to store and query all of our Users as well as any user information we need with ease. Takes milliseconds to query things into a database which is hosted on MySQL and you can do massive pulls/pushes without really worrying about doing to much. As long as your server can handle it so can MySQL.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You'll never really have to fear about it not being compatible at some time because it's pretty much hard coded into PHP and PHP isn't going anywhere anytime soon there for MySQL isn't either. MySQL has been around for as long as I can remember and has always proven it's worth.
Love it
