Best open source software for RDBMS
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and deploy.It occupies less memory space and provides cross platform support.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that i dislike about mysql.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used MySql to store data and retrieve it at any given point to facilitate decision making.

MySQL software is Open Source
Speed when performing operations, which makes you one of the best performing managers.
Low cost in requirements for the elaboration of databases, since due to its low consumption can be executed in a machine with scarce resources without any problem.

A large percentage of MySQL utilities are not documented.

Because MySQL is open source software. Open source means that it is possible for anyone to use and modify it. Anyone can download the MySQL source code and use it without paying. solved the problem of not having to pay a license to develop.

Looks like Oracle doesn't like MySQL, because new version releases not so very often

Wel, due price of database (0$), we found db, which we can use as primary for projects

Being free and a lot of typical components available in very expensive engines.

I do really appreciate the product and only things i could appoint are more related with its wider use as the main DB engine for a company but that is probably not a product related issue. Instead more related with its image in the market.

Typical DB engine problems or challenges. One good use case is license cost of other solutions compared with MySQL and its savings.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's free, very fast in answer and under Oracle control. I think it's the best database to start with a new applciation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like to much the PLSQL way of writing procedure. Sometimes I have to googlate to much to find the equivalent of the Oracle structures

The data storage in web applications

If you use a lot of stored procedures or if the data is too high I think it's better using Oracle, in the orher case it's the best database to use

easy access of tables and import / export feature

front end interface is unintuitive and there seems to be a high learning curve, but overall not bad

It does not support check constraints. CHAR and VARCHAR are case insensitive.

It is reliable. We never had the problems of corrupt databases in production environment.

It is reliable and predictable beyond measure and the documentation is fabulous. I cant think of one single piece of software that is integrated so well into so many different software platforms.

I'm hard pressed to criticize MySQL. It's that good. I suppose performance is always an issue but never a stumbling block.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it as the database for a number of different public facing web sites that use Content Managment Systems such as Drupal, Joomla, and Wordpress
