MySQL good for querying databases
What do you like best about the product?
MySQL Developer is easy to pick up for someone with little to no programming experience, i.e. business analysts
What do you dislike about the product?
Functionality could be improved; for example, accidentally double clicking a table can start a query, and when you cancel the query, it continues to run in the background for a while afterwards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business analysts can access data easily and communicate more effectively with developers.

What do you like best about the product?
Its free! Simplicity of the interface and the the ease of querying with SQL language. No coding background needed. Easy to follow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Syntax and semantics are difficult to remember.No support for PL/SQL. If I want to use triggers, cursors then MYSQL is not a good option.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use MySQL in one of my projects to analyze the sales data of a retail chain across different dimensions like time, stores, regions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
MySQL is a great software but the functionalities are limited. For example it doesn't support stored procedure and other PL/SQL functionalities. So, if you are looking to write PL/SQL queries, I would recommend MS SQL server or the enterprise version of Oracle.
MySQL is a relational database software which is lighter than others and user friendly.

Easy installation, user interface is friendly enough.

Security issues Sometimes cause problems.

National database related. Loading time is quite fast.

Documentation could definitely be better as I've had some issues fixed with magical code via StackOverflow

Helped customers with real time data analytics via our custom reports gathered from their databases using MySQL queries.

Once you get the hang of the coding, the program is so intuitive. It does it all. I like that suggestions are available.

I dreaded the learning curve at first, but it's not really a concern of mine anymore.

Real time trial and error. Able to configure many "what if" situations with data. Without it, I would not be able to find such business solutions for my company.

It is easy to setup in a Linux, Unix or Windows environment

For large, heavy loaded databases, it is a major operations problem that changing the database structure is only possible when locking the complete tables. The database cannot be accessed during that operation so that this can only be done during low traffic times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is used for medium webpages on for our intranet web applications. It is easy to learn and use.

The standard in relational databases, everything is so easy and the UI is intuitive

Nothing really, if you spent most of your time learning this it's a breeze
