Enhances firewall policies with log collection but should improve AIOps integration

  • October 29, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have used Panorama as a log collector and for administration. It's primarily used for optimizing firewall policy posts and reporting.

How has it helped my organization?

Panorama has improved the organization by enabling log collection, administration, and optimization of firewall policies. It supports policy migration and offers platform stability and decent uptime.

What is most valuable?

The valuable features of Panorama include log collection, policy optimization, ability to migrate policies from other platforms, and platform stability and uptime.

What needs improvement?

There needs to be an improvement in integrating AIOps functionalities into Panorama. I'd like to see a seamless integration with both on-prem and cloud environments. Furthermore, they should address the static nature of current additions instead of adding them through plugins.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are no significant stability issues. The uptime and platform stability are fairly decent.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Panorama does not bring in a lot of complexities. It's a straightforward setup, allowing licenses to add more devices without significant complications.

How are customer service and support?

The support has been good, benefiting from the partnership channels established with Palo Alto.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously worked with Cisco ALDM before using Palo Alto Panorama.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not privy to a lot of the pricing details.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have experience with AlgoSec or Tufin, but they are not exactly replacements for Panorama.

What other advice do I have?

To manage network security effectively, if the intent is cloud first, leverage Streta Cloud Manager. For hybrid or on-prem deployments, Panorama is suitable.

I would rate it a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Other

When are you going to extend this to m6a instance types? these are faster and cheaper than the m5 instance type that you do support.

Suitable for all sized businesses, simple implementation, but integration

  • May 01, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Palo Alto Networks Panorama is a firewall manager for network security, such as deployment, configuration, and controls.

What is most valuable?

The solution is suitable for all sized businesses.

What needs improvement?

The alerts in Palo Alto Networks Panorama could improve by integration with other systems, such as a forwarding trigger system. For example, if a customer has their own system it would be helpful to have the alarms integrated.

In the future, when doing an update all solutions should be updated at once. For example, if many different solutions are being managed by Palo Alto Networks Panorama the updates can be done for all firewalls, such as EDR and XDR.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Palo Alto Networks Panorama for approximately seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Palo Alto Networks Panorama a seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It does not support all the solutions. However, it can scale easily.

The solution is suitable for all sized businesses.

I rate the scalability of Palo Alto Networks Panorama a five out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The support could improve from the vendor. There should be standards across all solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is simple.

What about the implementation team?

We do the deployment of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is high. There is a pay-per-use model.

I rate the price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Palo Alto Networks Panorama a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Efficient firewall monitoring but lacks in customer support

  • April 28, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use it for firewall monitoring, reviews, and policy-level monitoring.

What is most valuable?

Threat prevention and traffic monitoring are the most valuable features for us. We use them the most.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement in response time for tech support.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good, so I would rate it around nine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support team is okay because the response time depends on the case. For example, it can take a lot of time if they don't have a readily available solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

If compared with Cisco, I find Panorama is better and easier to use.

How was the initial setup?

Our technical team did the setup for us.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Review of Palo Alto networks Panorama

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Panorama allows for logging and interacting with external logging applications. I like the centralized control of Panorama and being able to view the other firewalls.
What do you dislike about the product?
Possibly the way the licenses are set up can be automated more. It already have a nice GUI interface, but having to add and download the licenses prior to use, creates additional work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to have a look into the network traffic and finding out what is going on within the corporate environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
automate the onboarding of devices and firewalls. Out of the box experience can be improved

Using Pano for Muti-Site Management

  • December 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use GUI, built in help features. Once you get used to the operational flow of how Palo uses various groups to build/scale upon it becomes very easy to manage multiple sites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow DB load times. speed at which hotfixes/SP are released.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily manage 3 physical sites (3 HA pairs, 6 individual boxes) across the US. Easily able to add virtual deployments or additional physical deployments and have everything in one centralized location.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Palo Alto Firewalls are the best available currently. Once initially configured Panorama provides an easy centralized location for management of 1 or 1000 sites. Though some features in PANOS 8.0 are buggy I am looking forward to the 8.1.x release
