  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
provides an interactive, graphical view of applications, URLs, threats, data files, and patterns traversing your Palo Alto Networks firewalls also help us to manage all the devices from a single location.
What do you dislike about the product?
As of now, I haven't any dislike for Panorama but as a software part, I would say that sometimes Panorama froze and not responding that is my single dislike me. Because once the PAN Os freezes it will not show any notification.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panorama is basically the central management tool that allows us to access more than that single PA device from a single location. For example, we have 20 PaloAlto firewall and you want to create a security policy on those, Panorama can help us to create the security on those devices in a single device.

Suitable for all sized businesses, simple implementation, but integration

  • May 01, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Palo Alto Networks Panorama is a firewall manager for network security, such as deployment, configuration, and controls.

What is most valuable?

The solution is suitable for all sized businesses.

What needs improvement?

The alerts in Palo Alto Networks Panorama could improve by integration with other systems, such as a forwarding trigger system. For example, if a customer has their own system it would be helpful to have the alarms integrated.

In the future, when doing an update all solutions should be updated at once. For example, if many different solutions are being managed by Palo Alto Networks Panorama the updates can be done for all firewalls, such as EDR and XDR.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Palo Alto Networks Panorama for approximately seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Palo Alto Networks Panorama a seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It does not support all the solutions. However, it can scale easily.

The solution is suitable for all sized businesses.

I rate the scalability of Palo Alto Networks Panorama a five out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The support could improve from the vendor. There should be standards across all solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is simple.

What about the implementation team?

We do the deployment of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is high. There is a pay-per-use model.

I rate the price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Palo Alto Networks Panorama a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Efficient firewall monitoring but lacks in customer support

  • April 28, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use it for firewall monitoring, reviews, and policy-level monitoring.

What is most valuable?

Threat prevention and traffic monitoring are the most valuable features for us. We use them the most.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement in response time for tech support.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good, so I would rate it around nine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support team is okay because the response time depends on the case. For example, it can take a lot of time if they don't have a readily available solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

If compared with Cisco, I find Panorama is better and easier to use.

How was the initial setup?

Our technical team did the setup for us.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Centralized management and monitoring of Palo Alto firewalls, giving detailed status of the devices, reports on data, logs and events of the firewalls.

  • February 02, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Palo Alto Networks Panorama is similar to Cisco FMC, for centralized management and monitoring of multiple Palo Alto firewalls. You can push your configuration from Palo Alto Networks Panorama to all your Palo Alto Networks firewalls. You then receive different data reports, threat reports, threat logs, and system logs. You don't need to log into each firewall to get that information or configure it because you can see or do it all in Palo Alto Networks Panorama. If there is any issue or link failure, you'll find that information on Palo Alto Networks Panorama, so the product is best for the centralized management of firewalls.

How has it helped my organization?

For a few projects, we used Palo Alto Panorama to manage the firewalls.

What is most valuable?

A valuable feature of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is reporting because it gives you different reports on data, logs, and threats. It has easy policy management and control, NAT, PBF, decryption, and visibility.

I also like the centralized firewall management feature of the product.

The technical support for Palo Alto Networks Panorama is responsive.

What needs improvement?

A bottleneck in Palo Alto Networks Panorama is the licensing. The pricing and licensing model for the product is expensive and can be complicated, or it could be because I'm more familiar with Cisco licensing, which I find brilliant and easy, compared to Panorama licensing, which could be hell.

Another area for improvement in Palo Alto Networks Panorama is report generation.

It is expensive and suitable mostly in big enterprise environment.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Palo Alto Networks Panorama for nine years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support team for Palo Alto Networks Panorama is very responsive. The support staff will call you even after the case is closed, asking you how the support was and that he hopes the same issue doesn't resurface. Panorama support is excellent.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I found the initial setup for Palo Alto Networks Panorama easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Palo Alto Networks Panorama is more expensive than its counterpart Cisco FMC, although I have some clients who don't care about the budget but care more about extra features.

What other advice do I have?

Recently, my company upgraded the version of Palo Alto Networks Panorama for one of the clients, version 10.0.

If you are using Palo Alto Networks Panorama for the first time, I'll advise you not to use it if you only have one to two firewalls or if you only have a small environment. Better use the product if you have four to six firewalls and want centralized management.

I'll also tell you that Palo Alto Networks Panorama requires a higher level of technicality, so you must study a lot before using it. It would be best to familiarize yourself with licensing, threat protection, decryption policies, app override, DoS protection, etc. Still, I can say that Palo Alto Networks Panorama is an excellent product to use.

My rating for the product is eight out of ten.

I'm a customer of Palo Alto Networks Panorama.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

A short note on Panorama

  • December 12, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Panorama is a solution offered by Palo Alto Networks, which manages and controls the Firewall centrally. Below is the best part of Panorama :
1. We can centrally manage and controls the connected Palo Alto Firewall
2. We can collect logs from various connected firewalls to Panorama
3. We can configure the connected firewall centrally by Panorama
What do you dislike about the product?
My overall experience with Panorama is very excellent, but there are some points where there is a chance for improvement :
1. In log collector mode, we can't get GUI access of the firewalls.
2. There is no option of dual-homing where we can use IPv4 & IPv6 together on the management port.
3. There should be some default template and device group that the user can use for the basic configuration of the firewall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are working on a project where we installed multiple firewalls in various locations; now, there is two option :
1. We configure all the Firewalls by physically accessing the device
2. We can configure the management port of all the firewalls, then add the firewall in Panorama and centrally configure all the firewalls from Panorama

I want to go with option number 2. Panorama provides the advantage of controlling and configuring all Firewalls from a central location.

The best when comes to Firewall management

  • September 16, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have worked on several firewall management platforms such as Checkpoint smartcenter, Juniper`s Junos space, Cisco Firepower etc. and I found Panorama as the best among all owing to its simple user interface and one platform for all concept. The best part about is that you get a centralized interface that comprises of all the features at one place. The upgrade of the management platform is fairly easier and simplified as compared to other vendors.
What do you dislike about the product?
One may find the platform complex in the beginning and may require some training. In the beginning the platform was difficult for me to figure out but post getting some training sessions from the palo alto team, it was a smooth sail.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The centralized management and one shop solution for everything.
