Product with great capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
We use Vertica as our primary data warehouse solution across different operations. It's very reliable in terms of performance and maintenance. We like the Eon Mode concept, which gives you an advantage on scaling, switching between On-Prem and Cloud. So far, vertica has been a good solution for us, and we look forward to exploring other inbuilt features such as ML and trying Vertica to be a part of On-Prem data lake.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price could be better, significantly when you purchase licenses based on TB. the product can also be improved by having a user interface to manage the connections, resources, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vertica has been our primary data warehouse solution. Data from multiple source systems and of different types get processed into DWH. It is then transformed into data marts and used by other platforms like BI, CVM, and CRM.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Vertica for people looking for Analytical DWH. Given that it's a columar database, the query performance is impressive and can also be used for real-time integration. It also has features to separate computing from storage ability to scale up significantly.

The platform is fast. The feature set on the platform help for many use cases

I have not encountered any low lights on the platform.

Vertica will help in unifying all the analytics required for an organization
Long-term leader for big data analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I most like the breadth of functionality that Vertica offers. For example, analytic lags and deltas and event pattern matching.
What do you dislike about the product?
Whilst the documentation is generally good, I do manage to find and report back mistakes. It can sometimes take a while for these corrections to be incorporated into another documentation release.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Log analysis and aggregation, complex KPI generation, and sessionisation of data. Using Vertica we have managed to combine data from a large number of sources and query it in one place.

What do you dislike about the product?
poor performance on wide tables, missing predicate pushdown for custom source udf, missing ssl support for python udf, slow replication performance on load_snaphot with 10K+ tables in catalog, poor hash join performance comparing with greenplum or clickhouse

product analytics, ab testing, operational analytics, preparing data for production services (moderation, antifraud, client reporting, ...)
Best analytics database in the Market.
What do you like best about the product?
Dustributed computing , analytics functions. And It's continues improvement in the product. ML inside database improvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
In enterprise mode lot of downtime required for node additions and rebalancing of large Database. To avoid this issue, EON mode architecture is suitable.
Update and delete statements are minus points in vertica due to these statements delete vectors will create. Lot of these statements will effect negatively on DB performance.

It reduced lot of ETL jobs and user query runtime.

The setup of the environment, preloaded parts, gui of the tool

Some of the questions are more about exact values in the data rather than teoretical.
