Open source is the way to go if you have a little patience
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about pfSense is its web UI, hands down. Nothing comes close. Also great: FreeBSD o/s, and open source nature. Proprietary vendors still have not caught up on GUI or price.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not quite as reliable as some of the high-end vendors. Cisco IOS is basically bulletproof. I've had bad experiences with Netgate hardware, too. But you can't compare the value-for-money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
all-in-one VPN, edge routing, general network appliance (DNS, DHCP). Eliminates the need to run dedicated VMs or machines for these services. It's made things more streamlined in terms of administration.
PFsense, Is one of the firewalls that has best adapted to my entire work
What do you like best about the product?
I like the adaptability and ease of use, as well as the great community that supports it
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any bad reviews. On the contrary, it is a robust tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves my network security problems. In addition to facilitating the efficient administration of the resources of my work environment
A firewall that delivers
What do you like best about the product?
The opensource nature of the software solution
What do you dislike about the product?
The time it will take for a new person to learn it. But that is true for all software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
pfSense solves a firewall issue with Comcast Business (CB), where their firewall solution is inferior. The pfSense firewall is very mature and offers better TCP/IP traffic control than CB.
Powerful and user friendly
What do you like best about the product?
I value being able to run sophisticated software in an easy to use interface. It's constantly being developed and the support is top notch in the rare event that I need to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Debugging the firewall policies can be difficult as there is no great real time tool to do so. Finding the offending rule is a especially a challenge with the dynamic block lists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Securing our office's internet access. We block users from being able to go to questionable destinations, which mitigate the risk of downloading malware and participating in bot nets
LAN/WAN Manager
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, price, availability, and features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing I dislike, but if you need something...maybe a more modern GUI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem is hardware availability and with pfSense they have equipment in stock
It's been fantastic

Best open source firewall
What do you like best about the product?
The best about pfsense is that it is a mature application , which runs under FreeBSD , what causes it to have better networking stack than Linux . It allows packet defragmenting , and can integrate wich other useful packages such as OpenVPN, Suricata , Snort, DNS , DHCP , etc. I like I can connect two ISPs and use both at the same time , expanding my bandwidth and/or use as a backup ISP. Don't loose internet connectivity again !
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to criticize . Some argue that being FreeBSD is different than Linux , that may some feel intimidated by this . But I don't think is something to dislike .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Firewall , multi wan and vpn and dns and dhcp and security scan using suricata. I use in a solid state appliance mini itx which is always on 24x7 with DC UPS which is always on
Run 8 casinos and hotels exclusively on pfSense
What do you like best about the product?
pdSense saves our company tens of thousands of dollars each year. It runs flawlessly on our VMware clusters and I've never had an outage in the 7 years I've ran it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main downside is that almost everyone gives you a weird look when you tell them you're not spending $20K a year on Fortigate or PA licenses. A lot of people think pfSense is for home or small businesses that don't take security seriously. I kindly remind them that the NSA was caught once hiding a back door in Juniper's devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliable and fast firewalls for our corporate and public WiFi networks.
We use OpenVPN+Radius+Duo for free and secure VPN services for our employees. We use IPSec for Site to Site VPN tunnels to connect our multi-state properties together.

What do you dislike about the product?
Realtek networking drivers could be better, although that's a freebsd issue more than pfsense
