Solarwinds DB Monitoring Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Its simply a set it and forget it. Gives us timely information so we can remediate issues as they have occured. Also provides a insight of the health of the DB structure.

With the fields were more customizable. Also some of the analytics wish had more customizable features as well

Shows us wait times on DB access times and allows us to make real time adjustments to help with customer expierences.

Simple to set up with command line, powershell module makes it easier for adding targets, managing them, conditions are directly exported. You just need to create yours additionally. Variety of actions, using powershell as an action is a big plus.

There is a room for improvement of performance monitoring

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Sentryone as a monitoring system, we monitor our databases, and set actions. Like send mail, execute powershell
For example when a sql service is down, sentryone detects it and execute a powershell on target and starts the service.
When there is failover, we use again send mail condition to create Pagerduty calls for DBA who is on call.
Other than this, we also monitor blockings and deadlocks, performance issues with certain queries etc.

Ability to easily drill down from high level alert/warnings to detailed information about performance slowness culprits

Volume of data presented can make it hard to focus on high/critical issues vs low priority issues.

The key feature that has accelerated our internal debugging of user reported issues is the ability to drill down to the timeframe the user reported issues and identify where the issue existed then work with our internal teams to resolve the service and query that is causing user experience issues.

the reporting and email reporting navigation could be better. allowing for opening items in new tabs in an easier way.

The most valuable feature of SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer is anomaly detection. It alerts you when things outside the norm are happening, and the feature that analyzes your indexes informs you if you have wide or overlapping indexes. It also helps identify SQL query bottlenecks, letting you know if something is taking longer than usual if a query plan has changed, and if you need to update statistics.
In terms of usage, it is straightforward to use, learn and understand. The patching process is smooth and explains each feature, including links to external resources for further reading.

SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer's AI-driven analytics have enhanced our data management strategies through anomaly detection. Instead of customers reporting issues, the AI alerts us to performance-related problems in advance.
I would recommend the SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer to others. It makes management more accessible and improved my skills thanks to the extensive knowledge available in the application. It helps distinguish between normal and abnormal behaviour and has a large user community.

You can easily find pain points, when some reports or quesryes are delayed, automate notidication of threshold

by the time in use I couldnt find any beside not being too granular for user layout

well we had a data base where our ERPwas connected almost every reports sales/purchase order was lasting too much generating discomfort on managements and C-level. Solarwinds help us pointing to the resources being used in the database with the issue.

The technical support has been excellent. We've had a great relationship with the support team; they've been very proactive. Whenever we needed assistance, they responded within 24 hours.

My recommendation would be to explore SolarWinds SAM for database monitoring. SolarWinds SAM can handle alerts and cover various aspects like server, application, and database monitoring. However, if there are specific metrics or use cases that SolarWinds SAM cannot address, consider looking into SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer.
I rate the overall product an eight out of ten. Databases are critical for large enterprises, and customer satisfaction is paramount, particularly for such businesses. Implementing tools like the product is essential to mitigate any potential dissatisfaction. It allows database administrators to address issues before customers even notice problems such as lag.

What do you like best about the product?
It helps me create a better visualization for the complex databases I use and helps me show connections and relationships properly. This also helps me ensure data quality, helps me generate reports, and make data exploration easier.

Although it helps in automation, it does have its interface and features to learn which may require some time for becoming proficient.

It helps me with creating comprehensive documentation and visualizations of database structures, relationships and data flow. I also use it for identifying data quality problems by tracing data lineage by flagging inconsistencies and helps me do a deep dive into data dependencies for a Root cause analysis.

What do you like best about the product?
Best part it the central thing where you can make one master and slave mapping between the two Dpa application servers.
The graphs and minute level of monitoring is only doable from DPA otherwise we can do the monitoring from SAM Module also but will not get the same level of experience from it.

It has got limited licenses per app server. I can have my 400 database servers polled from a single Dpa App server.

It gives the granual level of spikes in the disk and utilizations and also gives you all the other granual monitoring of other parameters like transactions , device utilisation and many more.
It gives you the graphs of every minute which solves our problem while investigationg the issues to see at what time issue arrived and it helps further to solve the issue.
