The ideal solution to detect and remedy vulnerabilities in your infrastructure
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Nessus is that it allows us to make discoveries about the equipment that is coexisting in our network, this is very beneficial because it allows us to reinforce security within it and it is often seen that computers appear in the network of which we had no idea and we do not know what activity they are having, could be an attacker, then with nessus we can detect to identify these equipment to later exclude them and keep our network safe at all times
What do you dislike about the product?
What I do not like about Nessus is mainly its interface, which is a bit old-fashioned yet, it can not be denied that they have made some improvements, however they are still far behind in terms of interface if we compare it with other detection tools. vulnerabilities such as AlienVault or Qualys, also another thing that I hate is having to update the plugins of the tool manually every time I'm going to launch scans, I believe that these should be updated automatically for greater convenience of users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cyber security is a fundamental factor in the present and that is why tools such as nessus are escensial within companies since it is with these tools or applications that you can perform deep analyzes of your networks, in order to detect which are the vulnerabilities that they are affecting them and in this way to be able to structure a work plan to remedy them, besides that Nessus tells you step by step how to remedy each one of the vulnerabilities that it detects

The recommendation is that if you want to stay protected at the network level and avoid security breaches, analyze your network with nessus

The best tool for vulnerability analysis; Nessus
What do you like best about the product?
There are many tools currently to analyze network vulnerabilities, stations, servers and network devices, but few are as efficient and accurate as it is Nessus, what I like most about this powerful application in the first place is that its vulnerability database is constantly updated, in Nessus known as Pugins, not only allows you to detect vulnerabilities that affect your equipment, but also allows you to make a discovery of your network, through which you can validate if there are unauthorized devices found connected to it, it is a simply excellent tool
What do you dislike about the product?
What I do not like about Nessus is how basic the reports generated by the tool can be, since there are other tools of this type that although they are not more powerful than Nessus, when it comes to delivering results of what is has detected offer extensive and fully detailed reports, with Nessus you can have fully detailed information, but in my case to reach it, what I do is export the reports to excel, build a matrix and through dynamic tables I generate the information that I was asked, but if they improved the reporter of the tool would be excellent
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At the corporate level there are many solutions and advantages offered by Nessus, starting with the fact that it allows you to see what are the security breaches that your equipment and your network suffer for its remediation, in fact it tells you step by step how to take out these remediations, in my case I use it to perform scans and remediation in the company network in this way, we can be sure that we are fully protected and can not be attacked by any intruder

Request the trial version, analyze and discover how unprotected they are, and see how Nessus helps them remedy and close all their security breaches
AWS needs to update this AMI
Works great but AWS needs to update this AMI so that the version of Nessus is at least 7.1.3 and above. I was unable to update Nessus. Per Tenable, it's not possible to update Nessus if launched from this AMI.

Excellent Scanning Engine
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price tag is not unreasonable, but does still present a hurdle for small companies with limited budget for security software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ease of use and simplicity of setup has provided an opportunity to quickly get our internal vulnerability management program up and running with exceptional results.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In my opinion, Nessus is about as close to industry standard as possible. They really set the bar for others to follow in usability, clean interface, and acceptance by the industry as a whole.

Vulnerability scanning is great. Reporting is good.

Compliance scans, to many false positives.

Get the compliance to elevate so many false positives.
Powerful Vulnerability assessmnent tool at a more than reasonable cost
What do you like best about the product?
Speed! I can get accurate results from a Nessus scan much faster than I get from other products costing 1000% more. The interface is extremely intuitive and I can configure a scan quickly compared to my other tools. It is my 'Go To' system when a client requests a scan to validate patches of config changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike has nothing to do with the tool itself. I dislike that my manager feels the cost of the tool is indicative of its overall worth and reputation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Nessus Pro to complement our vulnerability assessment program and to validate detections in order to determine false positives. I consider this tool as an invaluable asset in hardening our PCI and DMZ environments.

provides insight on your environment. Easy to install and to operate. Reporting add a lot of value for upper management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once the vulnerabilities are identified, we must fix and re-scan to validate they disappeared. Sometimes Nessus is still showing the vulnerability even if the fix is applied

What do you like best about the product?
Cost is the biggest factor, the functionality is on par with other commercial solutions but at a reasonable price point and licensing model. The solution is also extremely stable. The information presented in reports is easy to understand and can be put infront of a non-technical audience, a junior admin, network engineer or audit team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nessus professional lacks robust data management and compression, scan history can grow rapidly out of control. We have been forced to implement so scripting outside of the tool to perform housekeeping activities that would be better served natively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nessus is our primary risk analysis tool and is the foundation of how we demonstrate risk mitigation to our Clients. We can rapidly get Client security buy in to go live once we present the Nessus compliance and vulnerability reports. By reducing the time to get Client sign off we are able to realize revenue sooner.

Evaluate what you plan to do with the information you receive from the tool, prioritize information that is highest risk and be sure to get support from you business to move toward integrating Nessus into your risk programs life cycle

Great scanning application. Exactly what I need for PCI
What do you like best about the product?
Scheduled scanning, reports are detailed with all the information for issues as well as a "how-to" on resolving.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really. Nessus meets my company's needs in a user friendly format. Couldn't be happier.

We're meeting our PCI requirements with Nessus. It allows me to see what security gaps and updates are necessary to maintain compliance.
