NAKIVO Backup & Replication is solving the problem of instant restore from physical to virtual machines (P2V), which greatly benefits users by streamlining and expediting the restoration process. This capability allows for quick recovery of physical machines as virtual machines, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.

nakivo still did not have file recovery from tape drive, or file level backup for tape

What do you like best about the product?
We use Nakivo since 2015 and it is a reliable and cost effective solution for us to backup & recover our virtual infrastructure. Also the interoperability with different kind of repositories like synology and other vendors makes it perfect for our operation.

Nothin really. The Support Knowledge Base could maybe a bit more comprehensive.

It is a cost effective tool to backup our virtual infrastructure. It's very cost efficient in comparison with other vendors on the market.

Its a modular Backupsoftware, scaleable from SMB to very high Levels Business needs of Service Providing.
Updates are easy distributed in local and non local envirements. Desaster Recovery is easy to manage and fast.

While Nakivo delivers comprehensive solutions, there's room for enhancement, particularly regarding Proxmox support.
Expanding capabilities to fully support Proxmox environments would streamline backup and recovery processes for those utilizing this platform, ensuring consistent protection across various virtualization systems.
Additionally, improving deduplication functionality could further optimize storage efficiency. More aggressive space reclaiming features would maximize storage utilization, allowing for cost-effective scaling.

What is our primary use case?
I use the solution for the backup and replication of VMs.
I use Nakivo to back up in-house VMs. We also use the replication features of the product. With such an option I can just switch on the second standby hardware over to a replicated server at a fraction of the time, thus taking a lot of pressure off us in the case of mission-critical operations.
It's a good asset in our IT department. it has an easy installation deployment and an easy control panel to administer. I highly recommend it.
How has it helped my organization?
Nakivo backup and replication has improved our organization a lot by its deployment scenario across two bare metals running VMware, its easy configuration, and reporting.
Nakivo has improved our organization largely due to the fact that it is an extremely robust backup system too.
It comes with a replication module that is very critical to safeguard our mission-critical servers. This has been applied on several servers across our sites with great results as it becomes a Plan B in case of a hardware failure or an outage of the primary system.
What is most valuable?
We find the backup to the Synology NAS and replication features the most valuable to our environment.
We also like the comprehensive email notifications with attached reports. This reporting is very very easy to set up and is saved in PDF format, making it extremely simple to both share and organize. A complete history log can be shown with this product from inception to end of life.
We appreciate the implementation and very good cooperation with Synology NAS and application integration. This is vital to us in minimizing the cost of the extra hardware.
What needs improvement?
Sometimes, for some VMs and some Windows Server versions, specifically old versions (aka server 12 or older) fail due to the VSS writer error or locking file system. It takes a long time to finish and another job could start, so the first job may not finish, or expire unfinished. That said, that's a software-specific problem of the hosted server edition, and not Nakivo-related. A fix could be to raise the time needed to end the job or solve the VSS writers on the operating system, in order to succeed.

What is our primary use case?
We use Nakivo Backup and Replication to protect our critical data from virtual and physical machines. It is also very important to control the correctness of backups, which allows us to recover data after a failure.
We also use the Wasabi cloud copy function. We replicate copies to the offline environment.
We also secure our SQL servers by using the ability to run scripts before and after the backup. We use developed and implemented backup policies and schedules.
We leverage the possibility of making a copy of Microsoft 365
How has it helped my organization?
The implementation of Nakivo made it possible to implement the information security policies currently in force in the company and to meet the statutory requirements in the field of IT security.
The possibility of implementing extensive security policies and the developed schedules allowed for the reduction of costs related to ensuring information security.
We also solved and deployed anti-ransomware using Nakivo. We monitor our virtual environment, CPU, RAM, and disk usage across VMware infrastructure including hosts, virtual machines, and data warehouses. This allows real-time data analysis directly from the solution interface.
What needs improvement?
The location of the product is important. So far, there is no version that supports Polish. If such a version existed, many customers in our region would decide to purchase and implement this solution.
The graphical interface could be improved. Real-time replication allows you to instantly send data to a secondary site to create an exact copy of virtual machines (VMs) and continuously update that copy as changes are made to the original VM. It's in beta, and there's no word on when the release version will be available. This is an important functionality that allows you to ensure business continuity by activating the replica in the event of a failure.
