  • March 05, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Wowzah provides cloud based and on-prem-based live video transmission features, and the quality will be adjusted according to the bit rate, which is a best feature. Customer support is very high quality.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial deployment process requires a high technical knowledge and takes more time to deploy the on-premises setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of our customers had requirements to transmit their factory CCTV traffic to their head office premises, there were 75 security cameras on their factory side. We had to transmit the huge CCTV Live stream traffic to their head office monitoring team. Wowza was able to successfully fulfil this requirement.

What do you like best about the product?
easily transcode from RTMP to HLS (h.264) and robustly works over EC2 so we can easily and consistently provide LIVE streaming service. without Wowza, we can not provide our service.
basic and essential as infrastructure of LIVE origin server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The DVR feature has a serious bug (CPU/memory usage gradually increases and eventually system crashes) when using Wowza for long DVR HLS live streaming of 21 video streams and is still unresolved after reporting it to wowza 5 years ago!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How to transcode function from RTMP to HLS with low cost and high consistency and stability.
We can focus on other problems by delegate transcode function to Wowza.
Stream target function is very helpful and adaptable for various client specific needs and conditions of LIVE venue.
Wowza can work over EC2 with GPU, it provide us very high performance consistently with easy access.

Some of the more technical elements of the software were way over my head. The good news is wowza has people who can assist with this stuff!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to rebroadcast a COTS streaming capability to an internal service for recording and viewing. Wowza was able to handle the routing and recording of these rtsp streams seamlessly.

What do you like best about the product?
You get what you pay for, and we've never experienced any hiccups using Wowza
What do you dislike about the product?
Changing contact e-mail addresses can sometimes be a hassle, as organizational admin users are unavailable to change certain addresses themselves. Furthermore, we have not been able to change billing intervals from monthly to yearly ones, which would help save time and paperwork for many involved. These are minor gripes, however.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves our need to provide lecture video streams to viewers both within and outside of our institution.

WSE Provides a Good Foundation for Production as Well as Enabling Business Models in Streaming

  • March 01, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of getting started and getting up and running. This has come in handy to just stand up a streaming ingest and reflection service in minutes. Once the basics are going, there is so much under the hood, between the API service and the support for virtualized servers to really allow you to tweak and tune to your particular needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not a dislike, it is just a "you should know." Once you start to get into tuning and customizing WSE, it does require a large cross section of skills to do as a one person show or a decent team working together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem statement is one of a streaming ingest point to a number of customers and then proper routing and delivery to a plethora of destinations, whether they be social or other player technologies.

The best part of using Wowza Streaming server is that is very flexible. It supports all formats and can transcode, resend a record livestreams. We have used it for many use cases. Both 24-7 streaming from fixed cameras to large OB productions from major sport events.

It takes some time to setup and we miss a built-in transcoding for VOD.

We use Wowza Streamserver for specialized streaming solutions. Where normal streaming platforms have some limitations we can adjust all settings with Wowza.

Helped me transcode security camera feeds for wall boards and web page embedding

  • February 27, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fairly simple to setup and get web page capable feeds from rtsp camera feeds. I don't play around too much with multi-media streams, but wowza made it pretty simple to convert sources to formats I could stream on video walls and web pages.
Install the app on a server with access to your feeds, then add your feeds settings (protocol, etc) and the output you want....so it's fairly straight forward.
From there, it was pretty simple to embed into a web page using their JS library and get a feed that my android based device attached to a TV to stream the transcoded video.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would be nice if I could test my settings immediately in the web app versus needing to jump to another program to test my settings. It could be inside their program already, but I didn't see it after some html player updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed to be able to present security camera feeds to employees so they could see where customers were, and keep an eye on traffic.
