Wowza: The Swiss Army Knife of video streaming server platforms!
What do you like best about the product?
Wowza has the most robust suite of configurable options, allowing maximum flexibility for incoming and outgoing streams. Installation and implementation is always straightforward and the platform integrates with all our streaming providers with ease. Support from the Wowza professionals is top-notch and the product is well documented. We're using the platform installed on our on-premise servers on a daily basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many options available, even the GUI can be somewhat confusing until you get used to it -- but Wowza has made many improvements over the years and it is always getting better!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accessibility features for video is a high priority for us and Wowza puts resources toward making sure their streaming engine supports all the necessary items needed such as closed captions, audio tracks, etc. Wowza also gives us the ability to re-stream to multiple platforms simultaneously without subscribing to a usage-based service.
We use Wowza to stream our live media tours.
What do you like best about the product?
Wowza is always available and ready to spin up at a moment's notice.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no indication to the user that there are charges or what the charges are.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wowza gives the ability for remote producers to see their interviews in real time and that allows them to not have to drive in and be present for the tours.
Powerful platform with excellent API
What do you like best about the product?
Wowza provides us with a solid platform with exactly the features and interfaces (web/API) that my team needs in order to manage streaming from our in-person events. The Wowza team is responsive and helpful. We have been able to easily leverage Wowza to better control and integrate with our event platform and mobile application.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't anything in particular that sticks out to dislike about the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our event platform does not allow us to automatically start / stop streams at the time for our speakers' sessions at our in-person events. Leveraging Wowza we are able to schedule the start and stop so the streams are routed to the proper destination within our event app.
Good, solid, reliable software
What do you like best about the product?
It always works. The application has never crashed, and can always be counted on being available. Being a self-contained Java application, it's never affected by OS updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
Being a Java application, it is a bit heavy on memory usage. Licensing has room for improvement. A "perpetual license" requires an annual renewal fee if you want updates. Updates are advertised and available whether you pay the annual fee or not, and if you don't, they threaten to shut down your software remotely unless you catch up on fees. They are now more transparent about this, but functionally it's still the same process. Lastly, the software dials home to the mothership and won't run if the license is in use somewhere else. This is a somewhat understandable approach, except it's impossible to have a hot disaster recovery server on standby. In the event of a disaster, a DR server has to be manually configured with the correct version and configuration of Wowza.

Wowza Streaming Engine allows us to distribute our live streams, as well as video on demand, as wide as possible through scalable cloud servers with high bandwidth connections.

Setup might be challenging for new users, so be prepared for a learning curve. This is not most cost effective choice and especially for smaller-scale applications. Web RTC ultra low latency requires further settings.

It is best solution for CCTV live streaming with various CCTV brands, which provides highly video transmissions features for clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
The implementation cost is very and more technical knowledge is required.

I had a requirement to stream Live video streaming for different brand of cctv , Wowza was able to provide that feature and fulfilled the requirement with low latency video experiance.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about the product is that it's capability to support low latency streaming which helps for real time interactions. The product also excels in scalability and performance to handle high volume streaming of live-broadcasting, VOD and 24/7 streaming.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing of the product is costly according to my point of view. And also Wowza requires considerable amount of server resources which leads to high infrastructure cost.

Wowza has helped to address several challenges in the streaming industry such as; reliable, low latency and scalable solutions for businesses. One another they have addresses is its capability to provide smooth high quality streaming across multiple devices. Wowza also makes it easier to deliver content efficiently regardless of the audience's location.

Wowza offers single console management for Metadata Management, Video Clipping, Auto Captioning and for Permissions & Access which makes it easy to manage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up wowza requires more technical ability compared to other platforms. Also deploying wowza on prem requires heavy resources which can be costly. Wowza is more suited for SMB market since it is bit more price heavy than the other solutions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Wowza we can get low latency streaming which benefits us for live interactive events. Also Wowza is compatible with multiple device bitrate streaming and multiple formats such as DASH, WebRTC, HLS, RTMP. Also Wowza helps us customize the platform as for our need and built streaming applications as per our requirement.

Adaptive bitrate video streaming feature can provide a high-quality on-demand video streaming experience for users.
What do you dislike about the product?
high technical knowledge is required when deploying the on-premises hosted Wowza solution and license cost is bit of higher for small scale users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of customer is running a lottery related business and they need to live stream their lottery selection process for their client. Wowza on-premises hosted solution was able to successfully be fulfilled their requirement and on-demand streaming can be adjusted the video quality according to the bitrate which is an amazing features for this customer.
