Good Product for collecting ,monitoring logs.
What do you like best about the product?
It's much easier to configure, compared to tools like ELK, and the search is quick to look for logs based on specific time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not so many plugins for rails and open source tools like apache2,Nginx,...

Log based alerts for DDOS attacks,Http response based alerts ,Database errors.
A Must for searching though logs
What do you like best about the product?
The Search app itself is excellent. Our customers also like the charts and graphs available.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few too many apps out there, some supported and some are not, so you must tread carefully with those.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Log Aggregation and SIEM analysis.

Splunk makes searching through tons of data very easy.

There is a learning curve to create complex queries.

Splunk allows customer support to troubleshoot and see where things go wrong. This reduces back and forth and the need to involve IT OPs.

Takes time to set up but it's worth it.

I really enjoy being able to not only view the logs but identify the personnel that made the changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do feel there is more to be desired with the search function.

We have been able to have a true centralized system in which can capture logs on all our network devices.
Unbelievalbly easy to setup
Very easy to setup and get Splunk Enterprise up and running almost instantly. Since Splunk is the best of breed SIEM and log analysis/correlation tool, this is fantastic.

Splunk has thorough logging and makes it very easy to sort and filter based on a specific timeframe.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve to Splunks query language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Splunk for capturing the logs of our XML Firewall. The logs are much more granular than using what is offered in the Firewall application.

What do you like best about the product?
Quick lists of CA Agile data at your finger tips. Splunk gives quick views of queries rapidly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to validate the data because it is another way to pull the same CAAC data and you want to make sure the report is accurate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reporting for Test Case and Defect reporting for User Acceptance Testing. All other data from CA Agile is available for reporting.

Checking logs for all applications in one place. Custumizable search by using various input String parameters.

User Interface and input methods could be more user friendly.

Checking specific error / string in logs of big enterprise applications having big and large number of logs files

Very nice and useful, worth trying for productions systems where lot of monitoring is required.
Very powerful software, but also very pricey

The power and flexibility when it comes to extracting information
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost.. the pricing model is $/GB and the costs just rise exponentially if you happen to have the necessity of working with many big logs!

Advanced monitoring and real time analysis of infrasctructure problems
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't try to collect verbose or otherwise "heavy" logs as costs will rise quickly.
