Data Analytics Platform Enhanced

  • January 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about SAP BI, is the ability to bring in our data sources and produce better visuals around our pharmacy dispensing data. In my job, I track pharmacy revenue, reimbursements, and other sales metrics. We are able to produce pretty visuals and charts for senior leadership on a whim, and also build out elaborate dashboards that incorporate our pharmacies data.
What do you dislike about the product?
We use Tableau and PowerBI also, so being able to incorporate these together would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The visuals! The visuals and chart options in the SAP BI platform are more user friendly than Tableau. PowerBI is very similar so it was easy to incorporate our analysts into use SAP BI. We use SAP for our accounting teams, so the analytics platform was an easy transition.

Helps with decision making, reliable, and make information gathering simple

  • April 11, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for business intelligence as more people ask for that.

How has it helped my organization?

We're a financial business, and this has helped us make important decisions.

What is most valuable?

This is the easiest way to gather information and have everything together. We have manipulated the information effectively in the way we want.

It is a stable product.

The solution can scale.

What needs improvement?

The platform should be a bit more user-friendly. There should be an easier way to use the solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about a year. I have not used it for that long just yet.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'd rate stability ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. I'd rate scalability eight out of ten.

We have around 50 users using the solution at this time.

Likely, we will increase usage in the future.

How are customer service and support?

I've never contacted technical support. I do not know how helpful or responsive they are in general.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I was not part of the process of selection.

How was the initial setup?

I'm not sure about the initial setup. I wasn't a part of the deployment process.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not familiar with the pricing of the solution.

What other advice do I have?

We have used the latest version of the solution. However, I don't know the exact version number.

New users need to understand a bit about business intelligence in order to prove the usefulness of the solution. You also need to have an idea of what you'd like to get out of the solution, and that should be decided at the outset.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Frequent SAP Business Objects Use

  • September 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to pull detailed transactions from Business Objects. I use it to review financial data such as payables. It captures information like invoice date, vendor number, due date, received date, check number and others. Most importantly, you can easily download business objects queries into Excel and use pivot tables. It allows you to save a lot of standard templates.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to get used to building your own queries. You have to be cautious about how you use the fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing all accounting data. Using it in coordination with Oracle SmartView to reconcile accounts.

Business Objects tried and true

  • November 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a feature rich mature BI tool set that can achieve the vast majority of what any enterprise needs if you are primarily using Relational databases.
What do you dislike about the product?
Business Objects was primarily a Relational database reporting and analysis tool set, but since SAP bought it, there seems to be a push towards BW as the primary data source. There also seems to be a push towards non-Windows servers; why? 95% of BO installation used to be on Windows servers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easy to automate delivery of reports in a number of formats. It replaces any number of Excel spread sheets that need manual updating. A serious time save and ensures consistency. Users get the information they need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the core BO products for Relational data sources only. Using WebI with BW can be a serious challenge. Using Lumira with BW is decent.
