Overview
FOLIO is an open-source library services platform (LSP) developed through a community collaboration of libraries, vendors, and developers. Released under an Apache 2 license, FOLIO is designed as a cloud-hosted modular solution that extends beyond traditional integrated library systems (ILS). The FOLIO project brings together a global community to innovate and transform library services, providing a selection of base application modules for libraries to adapt and expand upon, including acquisitions, cataloguing, circulation, data conversion tools, and more.
EBSCO FOLIO Services supports this open-source platform by offering an "open source as a service" model. EBSCO provides implementation, hosting, and maintenance services, ensuring that libraries do not need to hire additional staff or perform local software support. The implementation process includes pre-kickoff meetings, planning, data migration, and testing. Hosting on Amazon Web Services (AWS) guarantees reliability, performance, and security, with continuous monitoring and automated backups. EBSCO also handles feature enhancements, upgrades, and third-party integrations, making the transition to FOLIO seamless and efficient for libraries.nd more. EBSCO FOLIO includes additional integrated products including EBSCO Discovery Service, Full Text Finder, Panorama, BiblioGraph, and Locate allowing for a comprehensive solution.
