Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for IIS 10 on Windows 2025, billed only while an instance runs. Pricing is not a set of feature tiers. You are paying for the software packaged onto that instance, plus the compute, memory, and hardware the instance provides. Larger or specialized instances carry a higher hourly charge.
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A stopped or paused instance stops accruing this per-hour charge. Underlying AWS storage or other resources tied to the stopped instance may still bill separately. Billing resumes automatically when you start the instance again.
You switch by launching the instance type you want; the hourly rate matches that dimension. Moving to a larger or specialized family raises the hourly charge; moving to a smaller one lowers it. The change is not automatic — you choose the instance, and billing follows the type you run.
