Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage that instance provides. The software itself is the same preconfigured Jenkins server across all options. Smaller instances like the t-series and micro sizes cost less per hour, while larger sizes in the c, m, r, and i families cost more. You choose the instance that fits your workload and pay only for the hours you use.

You pay per hour for each running EC2 instance of your chosen type. A stopped instance stops accruing software charges. AWS may still bill for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the Jenkins software meter counts running hours only.
Every instance type runs the same preconfigured Jenkins server. It includes Jenkins from the Long Term Support repository, PAM authentication, SSL support, common version control clients and plugins, a command-line wrapper, and a mail transfer agent. The instance type changes compute, memory, and storage, not the software.
You choose one instance type at launch and pay its hourly rate. To change size, you stop the instance and relaunch on another type. The bundled backup and migration tool can save and restore your configuration, so you keep your Jenkins setup across the move.

Usage instructions
System initialization
After launch, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ and complete the first-boot configuration, or connect by SSH using the key pair selected at launch.
Operating system access
Connect using SSH as the Linux user admin with the selected EC2 key pair. Run privileged commands with sudo; this provides full OS-level administration.
Application access
Open http://<Public_DNS>/ in a web browser. The application may redirect to HTTPS after configuration.
