Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
Onyx Enterprise Edition uses a contract model with two separate pricing dimensions. You pay based on the Number of Users who have access to Onyx. You also pay based on the number of Onyx Instances you run. These two dimensions are independent. User count scales with how many people use the platform. Instance count scales with how many deployments you set up. Your total cost combines both. This lets you size access and deployment footprint separately to match your organization's needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one user for billing purposes?
A user is any person with access to the Onyx platform. Onyx syncs access controls from connected sources, so each user only sees documents they are authorized to view. Every individual who logs in and runs searches, chats, or agents counts toward your user total.
What counts as one instance, and when would I need more than one?
An instance is a single Onyx deployment. You can self-host inside your own network or run on a managed cloud. Organizations may run separate instances for region-specific deployments or to isolate teams. Each deployment you set up counts as one instance toward your total.
Which dimension drives most of my cost — users or instances?
Both charges apply at the same time and appear on one invoice. User count usually drives most of the cost, since it scales with every person using the platform. Instance count adds cost only when you run additional separate deployments, such as region-specific or isolated environments.

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.

This product has charges associated with it for seller support. By now, everyone agrees that GPT & LLMs are the paradigm shift on how we consume & generate information. At the same time, enterprises & consumers are concerned about the privacy & security of their datasources when interacting with GPTs.
Onyx (formerly Danswer) is the answer to these concerns. It allows you to fully exploit the benefits of GPT to query, chat and analyze your own data without sharing or hosting it with 3rd parties.
