You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run the Salient SAST appliance on. The seven options are not feature tiers—each includes the same code-scanning capability. They differ only in the underlying compute you select. You can choose from general-purpose sizes like t2.medium, t3.medium, t3a.medium, t2.large, t3.large, and t3a.large, or the compute-optimized c7a.medium. Larger instances add processing capacity for heavier workloads. The vendor suggests t3.medium for production use. Your total cost scales with the chosen instance size and the number of hours it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay for the running time of the EC2 instance hosting the Salient SAST appliance. Each option maps to a specific compute size. One hour of a running instance equals one billable hour. Instance size sets the price rate; hours run set the quantity. Both combine to form your total.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still see underlying AWS storage fees for a stopped instance, but the appliance meters running hours only. Restarting resumes hourly billing.
The vendor suggests t3.medium for production workloads. All seven sizes run the same code-scanning capability. Larger sizes add processing capacity for heavier codebases or faster scans. The size you pick only changes compute power and the hourly rate, not which features you receive.

Usage instructions
Implementation of the SAST appliance requires configuring secrets in Secrets Manager, then creating a policy and attaching it to an IAM role, then attaching the role to the Salient SAST EC2 instance. Interactive SSH is not necessary but can be accomplished by connecting to the instance as follows: ssh -i privatekey.pem ec2-user@ec2-ipaddress.compute-1.amazonaws.com
Simply replace the private key and IPv4 DNS address with your details.
