If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for Elasticsearch running on an Ubuntu 24.04 image, with maintenance support included. Pricing scales by the AWS EC2 instance size you pick, not by tiers or feature packages. Options span burstable t2 and t3 families, general-purpose m3, m4, and m5, compute-optimized c3, c4, and c5, and memory-optimized r3, r4, and r5. Within each family, sizes range from nano and micro up to 2xlarge. You pay more per hour as you choose larger instances with more compute or memory. Billing runs on usage, so charges track the hours you run.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to for billing?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the size you select, billed per hour. For example, one t3.medium instance running for one hour equals one billed hour. Larger instance families and sizes carry a higher hourly rate because they provide more compute or memory.
Am I charged when my Elasticsearch instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. When you stop the instance, software charges stop accruing. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from this listing's hourly software charge.
Does maintenance support cost extra, or is it part of the hourly rate?
Maintenance support is included in the hourly software charge for every instance size. You do not pay a separate line item for it. The vendor provides 24/7 assistance and security updates as part of the running-hour price.
