Backup storage to AWS S3 (deduplicated, compressed and encrypted) making it a very cost-effective way to backup EC2 instances, other cloud instances or on-premise servers/workstations. Appliance to appliance backup replication for additional data-safety or off-site backups for on-premise appliances.

Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the running backup appliance software on your chosen EC2 instance. Backup data itself stores in an S3 bucket you create and pay for separately through AWS. A second attached disk serves as cache for that S3 storage. So your bill combines appliance-hours plus your own S3 and disk charges.
Hourly software charges apply only while the EC2 instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the appliance's hourly fee. You may still pay underlying AWS charges for attached storage, the S3 bucket, and the cache disk even when the instance is off. The software meters running hours only.
You scale by launching the appliance on a different EC2 instance type. Larger sizes within a family carry more CPU, memory, and storage and bill at a higher hourly rate. The change is not automatic; you pick the instance type when you start the instance. Switching sizes changes your hourly rate accordingly.

Usage instructions
Attach a second volume to the appliance (>128GB) during setup. Access the appliance via a browser at http://<public_dns>/ and follow the instructions. To connect to the operating system, use SSH and the username admin. Backups are at /media/backup/backups .
