Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for Rocky Linux 9.5 running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, and the hourly rate reflects that instance's size and family. Smaller instances like t3.micro cost less per hour, while larger compute, memory, storage, and accelerated instances cost more. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing scales with how many hours each instance runs. You can mix instance types as your needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension provisions a Rocky Linux 9.5 machine image running on the matching Amazon EC2 instance type. The instance name, such as m6i.large or r6i.12xlarge, sets the CPU, memory, and storage you get. You pay the software rate plus AWS infrastructure charges per hour the instance runs.
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the Rocky Linux 9.5 software fee. Underlying AWS storage for the volume may still apply while the instance sits stopped. Billing resumes when you start the instance again.
Each instance bills independently at its own hourly rate. Running m6i.large and r6i.12xlarge together produces two separate line items, each metered by its hours. Your total is the sum across every running instance. Adding or removing instance types changes cost immediately, with no upfront commitment.
