Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this hardened CentOS Stream 9 machine image. Pricing is usage-based, so you are billed only for the hours each instance runs. The many options here are not feature tiers. Each one maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, from small general-purpose sizes to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and accelerator-optimized machines. You select the instance type that fits your workload and capacity needs. The hourly software rate scales with the size and class of the instance you choose, and it runs alongside your separate AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. Each instance you launch meters separately. The rate reflects the instance size and class you pick. This software charge is separate from the AWS infrastructure fee for the same instance.
The software charge meters running hours only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is a separate AWS charge, not this software rate.
Yes. Each instance type has its own hourly software rate. Larger memory-, compute-, storage-, or accelerator-optimized types carry higher rates than smaller general-purpose ones. When you launch a different type, that type's rate applies for the hours it runs. Switching is manual, done when you launch or resize.
