AlmaLinux 9 Minimal: A community-owned and governed, 1:1 binary compatible derivative of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Serving as a premier downstream alternative to traditional CentOS, it provides a clean, bloat-free, and secure foundation with exceptional ecosystem compatibility for Rocky Linux and other RHEL-based workloads.
AWS Optimized Drivers: Pre-configured with the Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) for enhanced networking and NVMe drivers for ultra-fast EBS storage I/O on modern EC2 Nitro instances.
Cloud-init: The industry standard for cross-platform cloud instance initialization, pre-installed and ready to handle automated user-data scripts and metadata configuration at boot time.
Amazon SSM Agent: Pre-installed and enabled, allowing you to securely manage, patch, and configure your instance remotely using AWS Systems Manager without needing open inbound SSH ports.
Key Benefits
Ideal Foundation for Modern Stacks: By starting with a bloat-free environment, you ensure maximum CPU and memory availability. This makes it the perfect, conflict-free base for deploying containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman), AI/ML environments (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Ollama, CUDA), and popular runtime environments, web servers, or databases, including OpenJDK, Python, Node.js, Golang, Nginx, Apache, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis.
Seamless Hybrid DevOps: Utilizing industry-standard components like cloud-init and systemd, this instance guarantees a familiar operational experience. Whether your current infrastructure relies on Debian-based systems like Ubuntu and Debian, or traditional CentOS environments, your CI/CD pipelines and deployment scripts can be adapted with minimal friction.
Production Ready & Expert Support: Secured with the latest patches. It delivers a highly stable environment, fully supported by rapid technical assistance and detailed documentation.

This listing bills by the hour for the AlmaLinux 9 operating system, with vendor support from Easycloud. You pay for each hour an instance runs. Pricing has one variable: the EC2 instance type you choose. Each instance type is a separate line item, so the hourly rate follows the compute size and family you select. Options range from small shared instances like t2.nano and t3.micro to large memory, compute, storage, and GPU-optimized instances and bare-metal servers. Larger instances cost more per hour because they provide more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware. You add standard AWS infrastructure charges on top.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for a given instance type?
One hour equals one running instance of the AlmaLinux 9 image on the EC2 instance type you selected. Billing meters wall-clock time the instance runs. Each instance type carries its own hourly rate. Running two instances of the same type bills two hourly rates in parallel.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software rate applies only while an instance runs. Stopped instances do not accrue this hourly charge. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes on stopped instances. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
