Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for CentOS 10 with a bundled security agent, billed only while an instance runs. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, and you pick the one matching your workload. Rates track the size and family of that instance, so smaller shared-core types like t2 and t3 cost less per hour than large memory, compute, storage, or accelerated families such as r8i, c8i, x8i, and p-series. The software charge is separate from AWS infrastructure fees, which you pay directly to AWS.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select, with CentOS 10 and the bundled security agent installed. You are billed per hour of that instance's runtime. Each instance you launch meters separately, so running several instances multiplies the hourly charge across each one.
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Note that AWS may still bill you directly for underlying storage attached to a stopped instance. That AWS infrastructure cost is separate from the software charge on this listing.
The hourly rate follows the instance type you choose. Moving to a larger or more specialized family, such as memory, compute, storage, or accelerated instances, changes the per-hour software rate for that instance. Smaller shared-core types like t2 and t3 carry lower hourly rates than larger families.
