You pay by the hour for this hardened CentOS 10 image with a security agent, billed per running instance. The price you pay depends on which AWS EC2 instance type you launch. Each dimension maps to one instance type across families like general-purpose (m, t), compute-optimized (c), memory-optimized (r, x), storage (i, d), and accelerated computing (g, p, inf, trn). Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates as CPU, memory, and resources increase. You select the instance type that fits your workload and pay only for the hours you run it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly does one hourly unit cover for this hardened CentOS 10 image?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you launch, billed per hour. The rate covers the hardened CentOS 10 operating system plus the bundled security agent. It does not include the underlying AWS compute or storage, which AWS bills separately.
Am I charged for the software when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance stops accruing this software fee. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is a separate AWS charge, not the software license.
How does my hourly cost change when I move to a larger instance size?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, so the rate is fixed per hour for that type. Choosing a larger size within a family raises the hourly rate as CPU, memory, and resources increase. You pay the rate for whichever type you run, for the hours it runs.
